your best bet would be to swap a reel over with the 1st reel to see if it still does the same just to make sure it is the reel thats knackered and not the board.

ive swapped the reel over to a different position and it still does the same. when i start the machine up the reel spins fine, but when i play the machine the reel doesnt spin or if it does the symbols slip out off place,

when you say you swapped the reel over and it does the same do you mean you still get reel 1 going faulty or the fault stays with the reel you moved to position 2??

yeah but his post is a bit vague of whether the original reel that he has moved does the same or its position 1 that does the same.

no point in him buying a new reel if its still position 1 thats giving the same fault especially as he has stated the plug was burn out at the mpu so it may have affected the wiring to position 1.

mind you maygays were never my favourite machines to work on:)

no i mean the fault stays on the reel if i move it to the 3rd postion it will come up reel3 fault and so on. ive had a proper look at the reel, it looks like 1 of the pins on the little circuit board connected to the reel has burnt, tried cleaning it but it doesnt help. ive seen a few reels for sale but i dont know if i have to have a certain 1 e.g can i put a barcrest fruit machine reel in my machine?

Reels tend to be made by companies other than the fruit machine manufacturer. So its the same manufacturer of reel you have to replace it with, it doesn't matter whether it has a maygay, barcrest, jpm, vivd, sticker on the side its the reel type you need to match.

That said its possible that other reels may be swappable but someone with better knowledge would have to answer that one.
