I used to be the same .......... £700 is a lot to lose, but I have done £1000 in 1 day

Way I see it is my m8 and his missus have just returned from
2 Weeks at a 5 star ALL INCLUSIVE in Dominican Republic

And it cost them £825 for the 2 of them.

I look at what I have sepent in 1 day and thought --- Shit that amount could have taken me away for 2 weeks

Or look around and see that new Laptop you have always dreamed of, or that 50'' Plasma TV --- It soon stopped me from throwing it away in the machines.

fooking hell £700 are you a football player or somein, where the fook do you get that sort of money to feed into machines.

What were you playing?? did the machine have Im going to f*** you up written on the front of it.

Man seriously that is excessive. i have just done two horses in todays card at epsom, £20 double 6/1 going on a 10/1, should romp me home just short of 1200 quid, I did it two weeks ago and just paid for my 2 week holiday to florida. plus today is ladies day and I can enjoy my horses romping home whilst watching some jug heavy wide on chick get sloshed. Nice!! now thats enjoyment. My advice as someone just said, phone gamecare or you could soon end up one of those barbour clad blokes with a tin of meths under his arm

p.s im not against bandits in any way, just f*****g play them sensibly!!!!

Take Care, All my Love G xx

Easiest way to control the amount your gambling on machines is simply not to play them at all. Every time you feel like you want to gamble on fruities think back to the the times when you lost bad, remember that feeling in your stomach. If needs be spend the money on something else, like a computer, holiday, tv, just don't put it in a machine, then soon and a lot sooner than you might think it becomes easier and easier to not play them.

I was addicted to fruit machines from been a kid of about 8 to 20 and have not played them in 10 years.

Think probably 90% of the people that come to this site have all been in the same situation at one point or more in thier lives.

Im the 1st to admit i still have a gambling problem and if it wasnt for me having such an understanding and caring missus id have been out on my arse plenty of times..For the last 10 years or so she has taken control of the finances in the house I give her my bank card she pays the bills gets my weekly quota of ciggies shopping etc and im left with my "pocket money".

OK i get the piss ripped out me constantly off some of my workmates for this but i dont give a toss..I know for a fact id be doon the amusments every week spunking my cash into the nearest Party Time or whatever..I can never go back to the way i was with them id stand to lose too much..my kids..my missus..my car..my job..etc.

So hopefully you have someone that can control how much money you have avalible to you and work it out that way..Its hard I know but there are better things in life than money sucking fruitys :D
Mmmmmm...Sandy ive 'ad her ye know. :)

You could do what I did the other year.

Whenever you feel like playing a bandit - put the money into a jar and give it someone for safe keeping.

Then after a year you will have enough to go to places like this (Cost us £1400 each)

MALDIVES: Sun Island Resort (Pictures I uploaded myself - I help out on this site as an advisor for Maldives)
HolidayTruth Gallery :: Maldives :: 42
HolidayTruth Gallery :: Maldives :: 43
HolidayTruth Gallery :: Maldives :: 44
HolidayTruth Gallery :: Maldives :: 48
HolidayTruth Gallery :: Maldives :: 49
HolidayTruth Gallery :: Maldives :: 50
HolidayTruth Gallery :: Maldives :: 61

Pure paradise !!!

Better than sticking it into a machine -- But I started doing it again after I came back, so need to start the idea again.

I'm the one taking the piccies .... Hehehhehee
The missus is the 2nd one.

It is mostly a couples place anyway (honeymoon and stuff like that) -- mind you a few groups of females were there when we went... Including a few Sweedish ladies ... Hmmmm

We've all been there mate. It was a big reason why me and the ex split up. I went down to see her and dragged her round arcades (not literally!). I could tell she was bored out of her head. I did admit to her i had a problem before but at the time i couldn't cut down.

I'm not as bad as i used be. TBH my fiancee doesn't know it's a reason why i'm in a bit of debt. I have cut down. It does help if you have something to aim towards. I know i've got a wedding to pay for now, and unless my numbers come out on sat. night i'll need all the cash i can get!

Have a look in the forum archives, there's been quite a few similar threads posted from other people. Reading them might help.

£700! Now thats painfull. I bet that was down to a beloved section 16 arse ripper! Unfortunately no matter how much advise you get or how bad you feel, it wont make you feel any better, so I wont even bother trying.

The amount of times I have walked out of an arcade and thought to myself, 'fuk me I could of had a frigging holiday for the 2 hours I just spent in their!

Second Dave here along with Daza's holiday saving scheme....

I too have been there....and all these years later am still paying--but NOT playing!

I go to Bingo and have the odd few quid...but I play when I go to Bingo, not go to bingo to play the machines.

An arcade? whats that? haven't set foot in One in years. Several reasons for that One...being skint, (as mentioned here) blowing a relationship because of them (as mentioned here), ending up with nothing at home (as mentioned here).

mrmystery83 rightly said there's been several threads on this subject.....notice something though within the replies?.............not One pisstake reply.........say's it all hu!

Hey Ady, sure people will get you in one in Blackpool though :p

I have a rule that I never put in more than I can afford.. Although sometimes I can afford more than I realise :(

As Ady just go to Bingo and play them there really.

Good luck mate.

I've got a REALLY bad habit. If i have a few quid in one of the Club machines one night down a club near me, and it sounds full i go back the next day, if i'm off, and force it. But at the end of the day even if i had a section 16 machine JP repeat 3 times i still wouldn't be 'up' in the long term. I've got too much to lose, a lot more than money.

It's an addiction the same as drink and drugs. Machines are made to be addictive. Sounds obvious. But it's easy for someone who has never played them to judge. It's a VERY hard habit to break. You can't buy patches or gum to help you along the way! But talking to people that understand can help.

I even bought machines thinking that would stop me playing them when i was out. Well neither of them have been switched on for months. I never have any money to fill them, mostly cos i play the ones when i'm out! It's a vicious circle really. It's hard, if not nearly impossible, to go 'cold turkey'. You have to wind down gradually. But once you start winding down, keeping it up is the hard part.

I guess 'oh i'll just have a pound in here', is like an alcoholic who ends up back on the drink after having a 'swift half'. It's easy to slip back and end up back at square one. I've done that plenty of times. I don't think i ever really will give up completely but i'm certainly better than i used to be. Funny though, if i'm depressed, or having a bad day, i don't always drink, sometimes i hammer the machines not giving a damn if i win or lose. You will have good days and bad days, like what there is with beating any addiction.

When I'm having a bad day, I listen to my music full whack :) that normally cures it. But yes, machines are sometimes the clutch, but a bad one at that. I used to go too much, now I've changed for better. Not 'completely' stopping, but I played nowt for 2 months straight, and it made a pound enjoyable again. And if I want to go crazy, I blast the Emulators.

I probably will get disagreement, but being mild OCD, I get obsessed with machines instead of addicted. If they're around I will play them, and see what they do, and read all the information about the machines, but if I don't want to play them and I'm having a quit time, then I can do that.

After quitting with about £100 left I saved up enough to take me for a week with my coisins in Turkey :)

Oh yes...1000 posts!

This is a site for EMULATION purposes of older machines. Not playing strategies.
If you are more interested in playing modern machines,
