Hi there!...
Just wondered what everyone's thoughts were on the new machines that we're seeing out there with an option to play for £35 jackpot at 50p per spin?!
I think it's going a bit costly myself, prefered it at 25p/20p as it divided into a pound nicely!

If you play a machine at 50p play then it will reach it's payout percentage with less spins than a 20p or 25p machine as the machine will have to take in "x" amount of pounds before paying a jackpot
In other words - you will have to put the same amount (lets just say £20 for instance) to pay the jackpot... At 50p play it will give you 40 spins before paying the jackpot whereas at 25p play you get 80 spins, so it looks like you get more gameplay for 25p a spin but the machine will only pay out the same amount.

The bingo hall has a few of these - with a multiple of 5 spins at any one time. So £2.50 a spin basically for a maximum of 5*£35 - £175 jackpot. They eat the money faster than the S16s and play crap.. They are bringing these in preperation for the change in the law in September ---- They are crap!!

Yes - Getting very costly. I myself preferred it back in the "good ole days of tokens" - hence the name. I think that 20p to 25p is and was the right price. Game like Elvis and Slotto are up to £2 per spin giving the jackpot of £500 not very often at all. So the theory of getting a jackpot sooner (lets say 50p per spin) compared to 25p per spin - is total rubbish. Just depends on when you play the bandit (poaching works well) - and of course luck.

Aye-seen them new 50p ones that double the numbers on the winline and aw that crap.Wouldnt gie them the steam aff ma pish.
Faced with the choice if i went into a pub and they had 1 or 2 fruitys both set to 50p play I wouldnt go near them.
Which might end up being a good thing

£1 divided by 2 = 2 that seems to fit into the pound rather nice then again if you are that daft to play a modern machine it kind fits that simple maths would be hard.

I think that the variable percentage payout relative to the stake should be taken to AWP's as well. E.g at 50p per spin a minimum of 90% payout 30p 86% 25p 82% 20p 76% etc. or similar.
I saw a £5 JP party time yesterday on 20p play and I had a little go (£2 in). I didn't win but I know it was on the lowest possible percentage. I like the lo-techs on the higher stakes as sitting through a losing patch on a party time or similar can be some very boring play. But if playing at higher stakes then the minimum percentage should be raised, by law preferably.
With the sec 16's being on 94% at £2 per spin it would be nice to see a legal raise of the minimum percentage. That said most of the arcades round my way are seaside arcades and a max payout of 72% is a lovely reminder not to play them to excess.
I'm doing well atm since restricting my play and using the "collect" button occasionally I have come away up from my last 3 arcade visits.

Elvis & Slotto are RANDOM and work on a RNG - so it could drop a £500 JP on your 1st credit or it could take £2000 or more.
I was refering to machines that work on a percentage - where playing on 30p a spin pays an average of 84% playing on the 50p stake raises the percentage by 2% to 86% (Hence the +2% light near the coin slot)
Playing on 50p fills the machine quicker -- so like I said if the machine needs £20 to reach it's limit, it will reach it quicker if you play 50p a spin as you only spin the reels 40 times

More and more places are getting these machines in now. Do they run on exactly the same tech etc as 25p/30p a spin ones? I wasn't sure if eventually they would be emulated? I'd assume that the top streak of these machines would be quite decent if it was in a good mood. You could make a nice sum as long as you hadn't be playing it on 50p for ages. I'd assume also that maybe the hoppers are bigger on these now too?
IMO if you play section 16's on maximum stake like i do now and again, you wouldn't really care if it was 25p/30p a spin or 50p. I play max if i can afford it. Just to fill it up quicker. I know it doesn't make that much difference to the payout on most of them.

Oh right so the Mega Streak would be about the same as a £25 JP machine? That's a bit crap innit especially as it might take more to force it. That's why i tend not to try and force new machines these days. It's costing more and more. The odds are getting stacked against the player more than they used to be.
Wonder how long it'll be before these machines are for sale? If you had a £25 jp version of a machine would it cost a lot to upgrade it to the £35 version i wonder? Might bit a bit fiddely to try and do a DIY job on it anyway.

I think the problem nowadays is the machine manufacturers / operators literally want you to stick your hard earned cash in and have as little a play as possible before taking the majority of your money for themselves.
You can stick £50 in most modern machines, stick it on auto start, clear off to the toilet with a bad case of diarheaa and come back to find all your credits gone and any bank you might have had has also been cleared out by the local kid takers
I've played machines for about 15 years now and it's only since the £500 jackpots have come into play that I've actually cut right down on playing them. I've actually been done a big favour as you can clearly see just how big a con they all are
It's impossible to chase Jackpots on Section 16 machines due to the claim of them being totally 'random' therefore I suspect most serious (and clever players) don't even bother trying. I don't.
Apart from Bingo Halls where the dear old (apparently hard-up) grannies love to sit on these £500 JP machines for hours on end, I've noticed most arcades around my area which have £500 JP machine areas are always virtually empty.
I suspect that these new £35 JP machines won't spree any bigger than the current £25 JP machines. It'll no doubt be another con in order to prize your money away from you even faster.

arrr i have cum across a few off these scurvy seadogs (lol sorry to much of the pirates of the carribean:bigeyes23: )
anyway i first came across a few of these buggers whilst i was on holliday in centre parcs about 2 weeks ago there were 2 of them if i remember correctly and although i didnt have much intention to play them (50p is a bit too much for my liking) anyway i thought i woluld at least check them over and see what the lay of the land was with them.
i found a few things...
1.there will usually be a change stake button 30p for the less adventrous and 50 for the extravagant
2.the board/feature was very complicated in the shape of a diamond with maybey 5 or six layers to get through (a bit like pot of gold but much harder)
3. strangley enough both of them had my favourite hidden feature ''feature'':bigeyes11: which i thought had finished when you start going to play £25 jackpot and upwards machines.
i personally will be staying away frm them unless i have money to burn
but it is always interesting to read peoples opinions on them.
ohh and btw these machines look like they could drink down about £100 and laugh at you:bigeyes04:

There's a machine in a Club where i go that's got all different jackpots depending on which stake you want to use. The top JP is 2k at £2 a spin. It's just a standard machine on what i would assume is a standard payout. No board on it or anything. It's one that prints a voucher out and you take it to the bar for change. It looks quite old. I have a fiver on that at the most and stay well away. The two grand has gone a few times. But so far i've resisted the urge to even think about forcing it.
Yeah i agree they're finding new ways to part you with ya hard earned cash. They must take a fair bit as these £35 JP machines are becoming more and more common. But they've been turd whenever i've played them even on 30p.

The none random 50p machines in the bingo they have nowadays - the streak is anything from £100-£150 pretty much everytime. It takes a hell of a lot to get it though (which you can play on 25p or 50 stake. Double Decker seems to be around £100 everytime on the streak. The 5 line 50p games (£2.50) a spin can pay out £175 in one go, also when you get the feature you can get £175 off that as well.
