Gents as the title suggests question Re an ebay faulty machine.

eBay.co.uk: BAR-X FRUIT MACHINE WORKS BUT NEEDS REELS ALIGNING (item 170118989173 end time 07-Jun-07 18:00:12 BST)

I'm wondering if this is a 'problem' or an easy fix?

Any advice appriciated.

Not sure if the seller is accurately describing it anyway... I mean he says £10 repeat jackpot --- I think he means it sometimes holds... lol... Unless I missed something when these were released... Quite a nice machine though, but you could do with more information I would say...

Shouldn't be too much wrong Ady, normally just the opto gone if the reels need "re-aligning". These parts should be in plentiful supply.

Whether that is the actual problem with the machine is another matter entirely!!

It could mean that some muppet has taken the reel bands off and put them back on wrong or on the wrong reels. An opto gone would likely give an error I would have thought.

hmmm yeah that makes sense......then if the opto is 'slightly' off.........

Think I need to call the seller.

if the opto is faulty then an error will alarm or the reel will just constantly spin.

opto might just be dirty.

reels may have been put in the wrong order or reel bands stuck on in the wrong position.

i would ask him how long the machine has been faulty and if he has done anything to rectify it.

Given the size of the symbols on a bar-x I get the feeling from what he says that the symbols are in the wrong place not misaligned. What I mean is that an opto thats slightly out would not put the symbol in the wrong place but out of alignment slightly. And from my limited experience an opto out by more than a tiny amount will set an opto error alarm off. Admittedly I've only had MPU-3, MPU-4, M1a/b and not pro-conn but I would imagine they all react the same.

That said a quick conversation with the seller will answer this.

5 yards from Nails house... It's not him selling it is it?? ;) just kidding.

I would buy it for up to £50 if it was that close.. Got to say if I get another it would probably be a low tech.

The reels on these can be a friggin nightmare to set up, Electrocoin technology is as old as the hills - z80 processor for gods sake !!!
Very Unintuitive test routines - ok if you like puzzles, especially the reel test - does not tell ya what symbol is on the reel (like most fruities do) just spins in various wins - and because of the reel layout sometimes it don't show a 'wrong' - win absolute nightmare,
Dodgy edge connectors and all sorts of probs can be your for the taking ;)

Check the reel band ain't slipping on the reel drum (quite a common fault) but be VERY VERY careful the reel bands don't snap, as they get VERY VERY brittle from being so old and subjected to the heat of the bulbs.

Have fun, and let us know how ya get on - I'll help if I can.

It also looks like one of those "wink wink" Bar-x's as the bar is replaced with a mab, quite enjoyable when they did the little wink run.
