Highly illegal to use a personal machine for profit without a license - even if it is your friends !!!

yaaaaaaaaaaaawn
I have partys after the boozer nearly every week, if my mates want to put money in my machine thats up to them, not like I'm part of an international illegal gambling ring!
I haven't even got the machine yet but I'm sure my mates will dabble on it when there at mine, think i'd be more gutted bout them taking the JP cos it'll be mainly my money than they will at popping a few quid in!!

As usual the UK is one of the last countries to introduce a no smoking policy.

New York did it 3 years ago
Most of Europe did it last year

Just get used to it......

Yeah new york loved it most of Europe ignore it whats your point?

Well if retirement homes are exempt I look forward to the Gala retirement homes. With the blue rinse brigade they are almost there anyway. :)
I wonder what you have to do to be classed as a retirement home?

How many though? I could open an arcade and ask my grandparents to move in. Its a retirement home, honest guv.

Also the smoking ban will affect everyone who gambles. If arcades lose a lot of revenue they will make their money back one way or another and all it means is that the percentages go down 4-6% to make up for it. And a lot of seaside arcades will disappear as their percentages can't legally go any lower.

Guess your right about that. On the same lines, i wonder if pubs will put the beer up? But lowering the percentages will make it worse. They've not got many options though. They'll figure something out, one way or the other. But i agree a lot of the smaller arcades may close. I think it's mainly the big chains that will survive. The ones that can afford to put promotions on etc to make a short term loss aiming for a long term gain.

What are you Daza...Head of the self smugness police? You can't smoke in public, gamble in your own home? What are ya gonna do about it eh?

What I said two years ago still stands. We've had the ban for over a year up here. Pubs and clubs have closed in abundance and those that haven't have had staff laid off as trade is down. Instead of cutting down smoking, smoking in Scotland has actually INCREASED. Now there are more people outside pubs than in them half the time...so ha ha ha!!! We get to meet new friends standing outside while you get to sit in an empty pub, bar, whatever, smelling of stale alcohol and piss....Mmmm...Lovely. I also mentioned that the Government would start cracking down on drinkers once they had spoiled things for smokers and what did I see yesterday morning on the news? "Government to issue warnings to home boozers". It's only a matter of time before we can't drink either.

I still go out (nowhere near as often) but I won't let it spoil my fun. Indeed a lot of clubs are actually letting people smoke in the toilets. So f*** the ban...although watch out for Daza walking in the bog or there will be a "closure" order slapped on it before you can say "ciggie".

It'd be great being a mate of yours Daza. Bet you tell 'em to pick up litter, look for health & safety infringements in restaurants and call the inspectors if your fork has a speck of dust on it. 31mph in a 30mph zone he'll be taking your registration number when he gets out your motor. I'll also bet he's never taped a TV programme on video, downloaded a music track off the internet and never bought "CIGGIES ON IMPORT"...ha ha!!! Amount of money I've saved over the years!!!!

...ummm on second thoughts, I'll stick with the friends I've got thanks :)

I AM THE LAW!!!!!!!

Ah yes yet again another wholesome, friendly debate lol on a point of detail, i let a few of my mates play my machine but with my money. Obviously they can't bugger off with it if they drop it, but at least people can't say i'm ripping them off etc. I've seen how some of my mates bash the bloody buttons i wouldn't let half of them anywhere near mine!

I wasn't having a go at Daza personally (well not yet), but what some of you all don't seem to realise is that what is your pet hate today, will be "banned" or "monitored" in 10 years time. Car drivers, drink, smoking, sex (how long before they are monitoring THAT!!!).

Fact is....George Orwell was right. The Government wants everything that is bad or dangerous TAXED TO THE f*****g HILT!!!. They won't ban it because they lose money and they make up the statistics to suit whatever the problem is. So logically the next stop for them criticising home boozers will be to put up the prices of alcohol in supermarkets whilst...ahem!! Not banning it!!! They know we will still buy it but use "health" as an excuse to make them sound caring and appeasing the do-gooders (most of whom are unemployed anyway or ex-drinkers or ex-smokers). You heard it here first chaps. ;)

So....to summarise viewers, they aren't worried about your health...they are interested in getting more of your cash.

Simple eh? :)

...and for those who think that taking away civil liberties (i.e: Activities that aren't actually ILLEGAL) then go live in China as you are a Communist.

You wont be saying that when you favorite place decides to shut up shop and close down, because of loss of revenue. These places may smell better, but will lose the atmosphere (like a pub with no alcohol). Places will be closing.

My favourite place isn't the local shithole of an arcade, where the machines are set to 70% (in this day and age!?), and the owner only gives a toss about making profits out of other people unfortunate circumstances / addicitive personalities. If you consider a smoky shithole to be your 'favourite place', you need to think about what you are doing with your life.

My favourite place (my workplace, which is a dispensary in a pharmacy) will no doubt thrive based on increased prescriptions / purchases of nicotine replacement therapies.

Let the good times roll :D
