Am curious if anyone has any plans to put up old fruities
like Money-Go-Round, Frog-Hop, Pac-man? (Old 3/4-quid jp's)
Or the really old sidewinder?

There was another machine I used to love to play - can't remember
the name of it but it had 4 features...
nudges, gold & silver pots and a stop-n-step feature.
There were numbers on the reels, yellow for gold pot, red for nudges,
green for steppa and silver for silver. It took 5 to fill gold & silver,
6 for steppa & nudges. It was a jpm machine.


(I know they're old school machines - i was rather an addict from 80's through mid 90's)

Good old machines you mention there. Remember them well.

OMG.

Thanks for the link and info guys.
I don't know what is more scary, seeing pictures of those & remembering
them or the fact that I played about 90% of all those shown at that link.

I saw all the snapshots. Are they so obsolete that no-one has rom
images for them?

eddiec...........really brings back the memories hu and remember when you a pocket full of 10p pieces the size of dinner plates................!!!

Perhaps more disturbing is that i (vaguely) remember a machine
(ACE manufacturer) where the jackpot was 5p tokens.

But, yeah, I remember pockets of 10p's and, if one was lucky enough
to get machines on "runs", filling up those plastic bank bags with tokens.
I think the best run i had on bigshot was walking away with about
20quid+ in tokens and some cash. Most of those 10p token machines
I found harder to get them to pay out.
(Also, notice that those older machines generally weren't win [x]/lose all?
i.e. there was a juncture when the gamble became "win next level prize"
vs lose it all instead of some level of balance..... was always suprised
that fruity players didn't ask the manufs wtf)

Strike A Light is emulated (MPU3) and in the downloads section on this site.

Top gears is also emulated and available on this site.

Silver Ghost, Superbank, Moneybank, Hot Pot are all old JPM machines and has yet are not currently emulated.

Flip a Note and Happy Nudging? I am not sure what tech they are, but they are also not emulated.

Way in doesn't work on the emulator for some reason, but the Rom is MPU4.

After seeing "Super Nudge Gambler" i wonder how many remember
walking up to/past those things and seeing that people had left either
"respin now" or "nudge now" flashing.

I remember another bellfruit that wasn't shown - symbols on the reels
had either cups or rosettes on and lighting 3 of either started the
nudge feature. (2quid jp, 10 tokens)

I remember one machine that instead of money it 'paid-out' Green Shield Stamps at 1p a go..........Remember that?....i'd love a piccy if you have that as it paid for a nice prezzie for my Mum...And yes I did lie--'course I haven't been to the seafront today :oops:

I remember these too but unfortunately, I have no pics as I guess back when they were on the go, no one would dare take a pic of a fruit machine. lol

Something my mum used to play, green shield stamps were used in virtually every shop in the 70's. The founder of Gteen Shield stamps created the stores 'Argos' and it was heavily subsidised by Green Shield. Tesco's unimpressed as the cost of the stamp scheme was put on the price of shopping, dumped the idea in the late 70'sand concentrated on value for money shopping, creating their own value/points system. All the other shops followed suit and Green Shield stamps passed into folk-law.

I'm not all that knowledgable you know. I thought if I wrote what I had read, it would save you arsing about in Google. lol

Anyone remember a fruit machine & not a video game called I believe Frogger or Frog it? Definately some kind of frog theme in it cos you had to cross some kind of 'road' to get nudges or something like that. :roll:

I am not just saying this because you posted that very old pic Compost, but I do actually remember this machine, or something in the same cabinet when I was 5 or 6 in a Off License.

Must have been 1979 or 1980 when I saw this.

My Mother used to put her spare 5p's in it. They also had a Bellfruit Nudge Gambler right next to it.

Here is another picture of a old machine I used to play now and then.

Soon as I seen this, I could smell Fish and Chips because that's where they had the machine.

OMG. I remember those stamp giving machines too.

Hmmmm..... one of the first fruities I saw (and played) was
a machine in a chippy that was 2p/play, 5 for 10p.
One cherry was 2p payout, some of the other symbols were
crowns, crossed swords, castles (rook style - chess) and
a symbol that i think said "strike", with red background.

Steinman: not sure if they made multiple versions, but I remember
playing "Frog Hop" which was a frogger type machine. All the
wins/features were on even #'s, odd #'s on the path round gave
nothing. First played that in a bus station then in a cinema around
the corner when they got it.

Side-note: Something really amusing about the evolution of
fruties is comparing what we had/have in england compared
to the crap they have in america, i.e. the casino's.
I remember my first time in Las Vegas, played a fruity and
the reels stopped *between* symbols. I was like... wtf??
and then saw that all their machines did that. I tried to
imagine the riot that would ensue if a bunch of uk players
saw that and starting kicking the crap out of the machines.

Also, watching cable channel programs about Vegas & gaming
is fun - not only do they show how utterly crap the machines
are, in america, but they also show people from the gaming
companies talking about trying to come up with "new attractions"
to make people play. Like, duh! Stupid idiots can't even
look at their european divisions and see what has been in
place for 20+yrs.....

But then again, if you confronted an american "slots" player
with each-way nudge or respins they wouldn't have a clue.
(america isn't always better - but, having moved here, with
those crap machines that stop between symbols [and no features]
it was a sure-fire way to help me stop playing them)
