I have heard so many people say how this generation is out of control, but what do you think the reasons are for this?

I am interested in hearing your views as i know where i come from there is no facilites about for the youth and the ones that are available cost more that people can afford as a huge percentage of families are on or below the poverty line....

what do you think can be done? and where does the responsibility lie?

i believe it is the responsability of everyone i.e. councils, local, businesses, parents etc to provide better facilities do you agree?
YOU DONT HAVE TO BE MAD :-) BUT BY GOD IT HELPS !!!!!

Slack parents and the fact that a large percentage of parents are very young.
Plus (gets ready for a bollocking) single mothers. Not the normal kind but the little slappers who get up the stick at 15 and bung their kids on anyone so they can go out.

Agree 100%. It's parents who :

A) Rely on schools to teach their children respect and life skills.
B) Don't discipline their kids.
C) Find their kids a hinderance to their life.

what do u class as < this generation>? i think as myself being in this generation, and my kids are the next ? i know that sounds lame but just interested to know what perspective ure looking at this from. i have 5 kids all under the age of five, and i know the way things are going, lifes gunna be a lot harder for them in 30 years time than it is for me and my partner now. and thats nothing to do with our parenting skills, just the way of the world, and the direction this country is heading in!

But you will strive to teach them respect/good manners and make sure they get an education. My two children are 3 and 1 and I know that it's going to be tough for them to get on the property ladder/get a decent career when they are older. But as long as they carry themselves with dignity and respect I'll feel I've done a good job raising them.
What I don't want is for either of them to be like the cider gulping morons who can barely read or write and think a hard job is mugging someone for their phone that you see in any park/ally/estate on a Saturday night.

I suppose all us parents will just have to pray that our children won't be failed by the government in terms of education oppurtunitys and carrer guidance.

couldnt agree more, every parent strives to do the best they possibly can for there young, give them the best footing in life so they can live a long happy life. even now i walk home from the pub and see early teens on the street corner causing mayhem and you cant help but wonder. 20 years ago that wasnt the case.... but 20 years ago i can recall my mum saying . every generation evolves with the worlds growth and surroundings. nothing can be done about it, its up to the individuals to choose there path in life, us as parents can only do so much, and up to a certain age now days m8

I remember a similar thread to this about 12 months ago. Can't remember exactly what i wrote. There's no excuse for what is basically crap parenting in some cases. Shifting the blame onto society etc. You CAN discipline your kids and keep an eye on what they're up to. Trouble is some parents don't wanna know as that's how they were brought up. Times are changing. It is a lot harder growing up than it used to be. Saying that, i guess there were society problems years ago it's just that they weren't under the spotlight as much.

I don't tar all kids with the same brush. It's unfair to do that. They do get a lot of bad press. But they say there's not always enough to do. Bloody hell how would they have coped before TV's and Playstations?! There's not always enough funding to set up youth clubs and stuff like that. Sports are always a good alternative. I read about an area that cut down on anto social behaviour by starting up it's own football youth league. It gives them something positive to focus on.

When you get older you'll imagine things were a lot better in your day and kids knew respect etc. But in truth when you think about it, your just living in a dreamworld. It's spinning out of control with kids getting more violent and the gang culture. Times change and not always for the better. Seems like the government are starting to run out of ideas.
