I went to Oz this March to visit family in Melbourne. Went to the Crown Casino and walked out £250 richer thanks to some crap slot game. Got 15 free games and every one was a winner. Nice. Got ID'd on the way in too :-)
Pokies are awful. How people sit in front of them for hours at a stretch I will never understand. Mind you, at 2c per game some offer "entertainment" I guess. They also offer free lunches if you spend more than a certain amount.
See..there really is no such thing as a free lunch!!

Are the games any good Dez? I will have a look at that could be interesting.
I've got no idea, i tend to avoid slots at the casino - i don't play S16's because i can't afford to (and have no desire to either!), and the slots in casinos are simply the same idea, only not random, and with larger jackpots of up to £4,000.
I also haven't seen any that weren't made by IGT (basicly the same as the US slots - same games, different ROMs), but if you have a look at aristocrat's website, im sure you'll find some info on them.

First post in a few years apparently! You last visited: 26-08-2004 at 09:01 PM
Are there any fruit/poker machine emulator authors/devs here (PM/MSN/IRC)? Just asking here, as I highly doubt (AGE)MAMEdev will actually look at these games until around 2020!
I can't confirm these 'emulated' games are actually ROM images (apart from the eeprom/sram), but more like standard PC files. The MKVI hardware is apparently PC based though, so that's why I can't confirm it until someone buys a 'real' game.
The game program is incorporated in mainsys.exe and the AVL file is an uncompressed resource similar to a *nix TAR file. Note there's some 'standard' files inside it, PNG, MIDI, WAV, and some non-standard files (PICT -not Mac files-, FLIC -not FLIC files-). PICTs aren't too hard to decode a they're basically a headered uncompressed file like a Windows BMP. I don't know much about the FLIC-headered files though, apart from them being an animation format.
Are there any fruit/poker machine emulator authors/devs here (PM/MSN/IRC)? Just asking here, as I highly doubt (AGE)MAMEdev will actually look at these games until around 2020! If anyone's interested I would gladly (try to) help in converting these to another emulator or something if needed. The main program isn't really smart and crashes all the time on Windows 98 machines, the sound stutters all too easily and stays that way (just hit Start!), and the button/switch mappings drive me up the wall! My programming knowledge is near zero though; I can decode basic stuff and make ideas/bug tests/source tweaks, but you lot would be able to do great deal more than me!
The Indian Dreaming game is also not the one I'm used to - on our machines, playing 243 ways gives you the option of actually getting a Tepee and an Indian on the same reel (both sides) for a double win. This one doesn't, and the pays are also less (buffalo and indian wins are really crippled, but easily modified)!
If someone ends up finding a 90s/2000 Konami game for sale and buys/dumps it, you might see something similar to the 90's style hardware in MAME. The tunes are fairly basic though and wouldn't sound out of place of their old 80's games! The feature music is more of their later style though. Note that all of these are made by Konami Australia, not Japan.
Stargames machines are PC based as well; their hardware is called the PC3 for that reason.
edwardb: Crown Casino tends to ask just about everyone for ID, I've even seen someone who looked about 40 asked for proof of age before! If only they had even a half decent range of 1c machines though, they're just utter crap for Victoria's largest venue (about 90% of them are the 50 line garbage, (which actually cost 50 to play, not 25!), the rest of them are mostly Indian and record machines (both are the exact same game!), which are set to return very low 87's). George and the big T definitely win this round in Victoria. All Crown seems to have is 2c and 5c games! You could probably find more 1c games in a local pub in NSW than at Crown!

I can't find an edit button for the life of me, so excuse the double post...
Just confirmed AVL 'files' are in the real things, saw a Pompeii machine stuck in a loop rebooting all the time. MK5 games tend to just lock up, but MK6 games keep rebooting when a startup error occurs.
I still can't figure out how a clock is added to the bottom of the screen; it's part of the game, not superimposed.

Hi Muky, nice video..
Ok what you need to do is in your 50lions directory right click and select new then shortcut.
The shortcut wizard will come up. Click browse and go to the directory 50 lions is in.
click on mainsys.exe in the 50 lions directory and then click OK.
It will place a line in the box that has the file you just pointed to in quotation marks. After the end quotation marks, type --->
game.ini OPENGL
(as shown in the picture)
Then click next, call the file 50lions click yes to overwrite the old shortcut.
Click next then finish.
OR>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
download this text file, put it in your 50lions directory,
rename it to 50lions.bat
double click it to run 50lions

The repro on the links on the left would be a good start - sign up to get the layouts/ use guest login to get emulators. On Fruit-Emu In the new releases a release will be in the first post.
