Not trying to be funny here (just relates to something else) was the request 'first hand' as it where or from say by guessing another forums member or emu coder?

The request came from one of the directors.

Again sorry to push the issue here but that sounds like bollocks surely if they were that pissed off it would be a legally issued letter to say remove this material or I arserape you in court.

Yeah I've had letters like those in the past from a few companies. Let's face it though, those companies wasted their money on paying lawyers to write a letter to me when they could have just asked for any content to be removed. It's not like I'm going to argue once I've checked the source of the request is genuine.

Without meaning to be a dick, how can you be sure the source is genuine, and not somebody pretending to be that person.

If it was easy enough for you to obtain the names of the directors of Empire, then surely anyone with a grudge to bear against FME could have done the same.

Coming so soon after the sudden closure of FF, im sceptical.

It's also easy to confirm an e-mail is legit, when you know what to look for, and it's even easier to pick up the phone.

Certain machines being "done" well ahead of thier time especially when they are "empire" machines..and empire withdrawing thier support for the FME world, makes me have a feeling of 'Deja Vu' :bigeyes07:

Agree on them pulling these.. It ain't worth the risk anyway - I would imagine the guys who run this site do it for very little return. I guess anybody who says it's probably fake and to ignore it could probably host them themselves easily enough if they "really" believe in making a stand.

50p play £35 jackpot machines have only been allowed for a few months. Then a layout for a game on a current tech that is no more than two years old gets released, and then the 50p/£35 version comes along.

It's almost as if people were trying to get Empire to pull their games from the site.

To be fair though it was a very nice DX!

Then loads of ROM sets are hosted. OK they were mostly incomplete, but if someone was determined, they could pop into their local friendly arcade and dump the missing ones straight from the machine. Or get the manager to order a load of new sets for them. Hey Presto! A new bunch of machines to play.

Absolutely no surprise that Empire have done what they have. Some of their recent lo-techs are doing very well. Why jeopardise that?

Tell me EXACTLY where it states that these machines should not have been emulated and who said it.

As for popping down the local arcade to get missing roms, you could argue that you could dump ALL the roms from new machines and not bother with downloads.

What is needed is clear communication with the fruit machine manufacturers. Then and only then will we know where we stand.

- It doesn't say anywhere. I'm not saying that it was wrong to do the layouts, just that I can't believe how surprised some people are that Empire aren't happy about it.

What is needed is clear communication with the fruit machine manufacturers. Then and only then will we know where we stand.

- That's pretty wishful thinking. No manufacturer wants to be seen to be actively associated with FME. Barcrest change the subject when it's mentioned on Players Heaven. To believe that one day a manufacturer will send out correspondence directly to the scene, and we can all chat with them and thrash out a way to work together in harmony or anything like that is total fantasy. They tolerate this supposed 'underground scene' within certain limits. But when something happens that may threaten a company's profits, they will just pull the plug. They won't want to discuss it, liase with the scene or work out a compromise - they'll put their foot straight down and nip it in the bud. They made the games after all - if they didn't, we wouldn't be able to do layouts for them. Some of these games may still be popular and take good money, and they may want to re-glass them. If a layout appears for that game, they will worry about whether it will cost them money and affect sales of future games using the same control or whatever. They're running a business for Christ's sake and have got mouths to feed. FME is a pain in the arse for them, so it's common sense that manufacturers aren't happy with layouts being done for recent machines.
