Been given a pc to look at which when switched on gives a single beep lasting around 3 secs then a 1 sec pause then another 3 sec beep & so on.

I guessed mem or gfx but they work fine in another pc. Tried removing mem,gfx & drives & still get the same beep code.

I looked it up to double check & apparently there are many different award bios beep codes. I have never experienced such a beep code unsolved & have worked with pc's for many yrs.

I am left with 2 possibilities, 1= psu 2= mobo. I very much doubt it is the cpu.

The board is an MSI k8n neo ver 2

Anybody had this beep code without it being a gfx or mem prob?

cheers

Reseat/check the GFX card.

Tried that, does the same beep without anything plugged in. Also tried a different gfx card & same thing.

Tried clearing the bios?

Remove the batt for a few secs if you cant find the CMOS clear jumper.

Yep tried that, it is a 2 sec beep & 3 sec pause continuous (not a 3 sec beep and 1 sec pause as i says earlier which was a guess). Tried different gfx & ram. It has me baffled.

Maybe solved. Tried a can of air on the gfx/memory slots & now get the standard post beep.Hopefully sorted.

You checked the cooler on the cpu? Might be overheating or something.
