As we all know, fruit machines can be a real problem.
After reading a few threads on the subject of addiction, I thought I'd see if anyone has found good ways of taking your mind off wanting to play the fruities.
I started fishing, and met a new crowd of people, I now make plans for fishing trips with them, and it really has helped me quit wasting my life and money. Although I am still tempted sometimes and probally always will be.

Im off to a holiday park for a few days today, im dreading it lol. Going to be in the arcades all the time... Still its raining so theres an excuse for starters! lol

Well done mate. Getting on with things like work, walking, computer games, spending time with family, meals out, spending money on things that people need, (esspically if your married, and children) all stop the need to play the machines.

The temptation is always there, it does get better with time. What I do is give my missus £30, and play the roms, that way you acctually lose nothing - Lol.

There's more to life than fruit machines.

I spent many years gambling and probably spent 10's of thousands but i have spopped playing them now and i see the benefits as i have a 10 oz gold neck chain and a 7.5 oz gold bracelet and 600 original dvd's and just custom built a new high spec pc,my advise would be to use the money you would usually waste on fruities and buy yourself something nice and when you see the nice things you have bought it will encourage you,i am happy as i can walk past an arcade now and not feel tempted to enter and it feels great!good luck mate i hope you succeed like myself to be an ex-gambler.

Taking your mind off fruit machines hmmmm.... Try thinking about roulette or blackjack only jokin people.

Its a tough one because im a slight addict, i know it sounds sad but try gamblers anonymous, ive been there a couple of times to the one in manchester near the library and seeing those people there who have really ruined their life makes you think. Its hard at first to stop. Also there is no point in going if you dont want to stop. Its not a cure like antibiotics for gambling lol. Its something you have to work on.

And like someone else said try some computer games. I thought back to games i used to play before i was an addict and bought these games again. Final Fantacy 7 was one. Really enjoyed beating Sepheroph again

Also if you have a group of people you gamble with Ditch em seriously because you will get the phonecall asking if your comin to play. I stayed clean for 3 months a while ago and one of my old mates phoned me who i used to play with around salford and manchester and yet again we went for a few beers and it was suggested we went into Manchester and go to Jenny's + Nobles. And what happened, i ended up being up about £300-£400, What happened the next day. I woke up and went for another gamble thinking i would win again...... WRONG i lost all of that and another £200ish of my own.

I still gamble quite often but i seem to play a lot smarter, if i lose £20 thats it, no more. Then i will leave it alone for a bit until i can afford to lose another £20.

NEVER SPEND WHAT YOU CANT AFFORD IS RULE NUMBER 1. YOU WILL ONLY GET YOURSELF IN SHIT!

Thats all my advise for now. Sorry if its layed out Crap.

Like people have put on here, find yourself a hobby. Or a good woman to spend all ya money for ya lol . You need something else to focus on to take your mind of it. Or, do what was suggested to me, overtime at work. Not only are you not spending your cash but your earning more to treat yourself with.
