Matt I feel for you. My mr's sister is an Alchi and has equiv of 4 bottles of wine a day minimum and has been in hospital so many times and lost her kids etc... Plus my mrs has a bottle a night (which really upsets me).... I used to like to drink 2/3 times a week but after my exposure to it recently I drink once a year max (hence I clicked tea total)....

Mate if you ever want to chat about it - you have my mail! :) You seem a top guy so good luck --- and you have the best reason to cut down or give up that you could have --- A family! :)

sent home in disgrase vamp, i never played a game for them, like i said promising future, that i ruined by my own admission.

i have read all your replys and have come to a decition... I AM GOING TO STOP. as of now, i have i big bottle of lambrini and half bottle of vodka under my desk, and i keep looking at them.... not good i know so there going in the bin, i love my kids dearly and all this self abuse will no doubt shorten the time i get to be with them.

as of 22.51 on the 15.7.7 thats me done, i havnt had a drink today and i feel ok... one day at a time...

thank you james, i get the feeling i may need all the encouragment and help i can get these first few days.

Congratulations Matt, keep it up.

Sorry to laugh at you on your first day but.... LAMBRINI???? thats almost as bad as drinking Alcopops lol :)

There are some great soft drinks out there these days, maybe you should try a few til you find something you like.

It's a shame. I've seen people become 'alcoholic', and the drinks get cheaper and cheaper... rather than a nice £5 or £6 bottle of wine, they are on the strongest (ideally 13%+) they can get for sub-£3. Same with things like the imitation Martini, instead of the real stuff at £6 a bottle, seeing as how they are downing the bottle in one, they move on to the £2.50ish stuff.

Hope it goes ok for you Matt keep it up. At least you've realised you may of have had a bit of a problem before it's too late. IMO binge drinking these days is a worrying trend, as in above post you can get booze very cheap these days. Whether your drinking at home or going out. It can be hard to go 'cold turkey' so you might be better just winding down gradually.
