You could try increasing the resolution on your monitor
Most games work in 1280x1024 and some need 1600x1200 -- If you can't get these resolutions then get a new monitor (17'' & above required)

Other than that stick to CLASSIC layouts which work in 1024x768

I had this problem with "Road Hog I'm Back" Thanks to Toddyuk answer, I went to edit mode and and clicked "set reel background" on all reels and it worked.

I have a 19 inch monitor, yet the highest resolution it supports is 1400x900, which is very annoying.

Ive got a 19" dell monitor and the highest mine goes is 1280x1024. I thought I would have been able to get upto 1600 res on this.
Could it be that I never installed the dell disc with it?

Maybe to do with your graphics card.

I have a 21" Monitor, can't remember the resolution it goes up to.

Sure it's something like 2800 x 1600 or something, but as said above, the Graphics card makes a difference.

right click your desktop background - click properties, click settings on the new window when it appears and adjust the slider at the bottom left of that settings screen.

Thats for Xp, for Vista i'd return the pc or load xp on it.

To force your adapator to display higher resolutions click Advanced on that settings tab mentioned above, click the monitor tab on the new window then you'll see the tickbox mentioning "hide modes this monitor cant display"

Cheers
