Hi All,

Please can anyone help me out.......

I have just come in from playing my Club Crazy Fruits Machine by BFM. It has been playing fine, but tonight, all of a sudden, the sound just went.

It was not a gradual disappearence or fade, - one credit it was there, the next it wasn't!!!

I have checked the connections to the speakers and they seem fine. Power Supply also seems ok, and all lights are lit on the scorpion board.

Apart from no sound, the machine still plays perfectly.

Hope someone on here can help me out as I'm sure you all know that the sound on this machine is the best thing about it.

Don't know if this is a daft answer (most of mine are ) But I was playing on my laptop last week, and the same problem happened to me - Only to find out that I had hit the mute button .

Always check the obvious - Otherwise PM some of the experts on here - They will be happy to help you.

first of all check the volume to make sure that its not on 0

if the volume is set fine then check the wires to the main scorpion board failing that then your speaker will be duff

I have checked the volume, and it is set at 25, so believe that is ok. Also, the machine has 2 speakers, so would think it very strange for both speakers to blow at the same time? Could it be more of a board fault or game card fault? Saying that, if it was a game card fault, would the machine not work at all? As previously said, the machine is 100% playable - it just has no sound.

Are you getting sound from other sources, playing music for example?

EDIT: I'm blaming this on Medication.

wiggle the wires on the programme card where the connector for the speakers plug in or if the sound plugs in on the scorpoin board wiggle that connector aswell.


its very rare that the sound would just vanish unless its been playing on full wack (volume)

also check that the programme card is properly inserted on the main board and that no pins have been bent

the other thing u could try is if u have a multimeter to hand is actually checking the wiring from the speaker's back to the connector to make sure there isn't a break in the wiring somewhere.

yam sound ic up the crank on the programe card which should of alarmed on the alpha sound prom error XX can`t remember the code this or buffer on the scorp 4 error 51/3 psu 12v or 5v for the audio transister is less then what is need to make it work

possibly just a loose connection on the speaker wires to the mpu or a break in the wire but i'm pretty sure both speakers are wired seperatly so if both have gone then might not be a break.

Got hold of multimeter, so will check as soon as I get 5 mins. Is there anywhere else I need to check while I'm at it, or is it just the wires between the speakers and the MPU.

just tracing back to the scorp board will be fine that will then determine if its the wiring or the pro card or corp board or speaker which i vey much doubt it the speaker's

yeah as lincs said trace the continuity from the speaker wire running all the way back to the mpu and if all is ok then either the speakers have blown or your sund chip haas died(which i doubt becaause the machine gives a sound prom error if faulty)

Another thing to check..... is your hearing ok... sometimes you get the problem where you cant hear anything at all. Some people say your Deaf when you cant hear stuff... also if you wear a hearing aid then you might have flicked the volume switch on there so you may need to try that too.
