You will need to play the CLASSIC layouts which use a resolution of 1024 and the odd DX that runs at 1024 (not that many)
other than that use games that run in MFME v3 and you can resize the machine by dragging any corner of the emu so it fits inside your screen (machines designed for 9.4 or 10.1 will not work in v3)
Also BFMulator allows you to do the same

Here's a link to a thread where i released 4 or 5 1024 wdx's http://www.fruit-emu...w-releases.html (pics attached as you move down the thread),
was just after i bought a laptop to i wanted a few extra layouts to play.
Also if you just go into the download section and search for '1024' that should come up with a pretty huge list of layouts that will suit the resolution you need.
Tbh there are actually quite alot of 1024's if you are willing to search through the downloads.
Also don't forget that mfme 3.2 has the resize function on it, so any layouts (even 1280 ones) that aren't in the S4 or MPU5 section you can run on this emu and resize to fit your screen:)
EDIT: just noticed Daza mentioned about v3 and resizing, sorry lol
