For that the 'debugger' needed a public release simply for the masses to post their observations upon running the roms, reading pages of a dump of a rom is boring work for one person many hands make light work so they say.

There is a 'project' of sorts looking into it, so far dubbed VBPoch. But its not an emulator per se.
And its very much preliminary. So dont expect to hear much about it for a while. Suffice to say you will need to mod an epoch board and plug it into the PC. Details will become available nearer the time if it works.

stab in the dark here
the roms are emulated but the board isn't, so it uses a real life board & emulates the roms & reels & lights etc etc?

Sounds interesting but it's much easier to actually emulate it. Don't be fooled by all the pic security rubbish thats been posted over the years :-)

Yep, there's hundreds of machines left in the wild, but noone (very few) will actually collect resources until there is an emulator available. No Idea why this is, I would assume making an emulator would be much easier with more than 4 romsets (with sound).
Anyhow, VB just isn't fast enough to do Epoch. So its not on my current "to do" list. Pheonix and Castle however. Thats another (long) story.

So, its easier to write the H8 core, Emulate the other (god knows how many, havent looked) chips on the board, and get that all working. Rather than using a rom emulator off the shelf and feeding the pre amplified (lamps etc) outputs into a usb port?
One I could do in a day, the other would take a good couple of years.
Lets have a copy of the H8 core then

I would of thought that is blatantly obvious.
Tell you what I will go around hunting down loads of old car parts for a 'car rebuild project' that has been rumoured but when it is done I am not allowed to see it let alone drive it.
I think as a scene we have done much more than our fair share of gathering and have definitely wrote the 'debt' off regarding one or two folks silly 'Welsh veggies' behaviour. I think it is about time the slate was wiped clean and we started again.
