Evening Guys,
Does anyone remember the machines a few years ago that were like a single player "sit down" type cabinet that had a built in coin pusher in the top box? From memory there were 3 versions, one of which you had to get 3 "x's", yellow, red or blue - and according to which you got, coins dropped down the back onto the pusher bed's. There was also an egyptian themed one. You then won what was knocked off the pusher, rounded to the nearest £1.
I always really liked these, but they can't have been very popular as you dont see them around any more. I remember more than once when I played there was a problem with the payout, so maybe that is why they were not popular?
I just wondered what anyone thought of these, and whether they ever come up for sale as I would quite like one for the games room! However, if they are really unreliable, let me know and I'll probably not bother )
Cheers,
Mark

They were abysmal mate --- especially for payouts --- They just ate money and gave out a few 10ps.. Think about it, how can they conform to any sort of percentage payout>>????

Sorry to be a know it all, but pushers stick like glue to their set percentage. It's all to do with the build up of coins at the front, and the angle of the metal plate underneath. Oh, also the screws which hold it on, which the coins "ride" up over.
How do I know? I did the software for a few of the Jumping Bean machines (the pushers in Bell Fruit AWP cabinets) many moons ago...

Yeah - I think Astra did them, but JPM also did some (I think - may be wrong).
I know JPM did the multiplayer AWP with a crane grab machine inside, called Star Turn or something..

From what I remember, there were never many coins on the pusher beds, and they weren't very wide (unlike "normal" pushers), so as a rule you usually got at least 50% of the number of coins dropped - eg; you "win" 20 coins to be dropped down the back (£2), you would usually win at least £1.
They used to have a couple at Star City casino in Birmingham, but it is all S16/21 now (

My mom, used to love Star Turn (used to go home with about 10 teddybears a night). The best of these type of machines is the horse shoe one where the horses race though
Stop going to STAR CITY that's mine!!!

Yes Astra did these games, their 'Cash Falls' range.
Pharoes Gold, Cash Vegas and Jungle Jive. All the same games just different artwork. They did a Party Time Pusher as well. I still have the sounds for these somewhere.
They were a novel idea but were a bastard when they went wrong, and they created a lot of dust and dirt, so you had to keep changing the 10p's off the bed for new ones because they went black and the perspex looked filthy.
Even though there was a pusher feature in them, they were still reflex-controlled in the end. If you short-seeded the beds and the features didn't pay much, the base game would just get more generous to compensate.
Glad you liked them James!

Hi Guys,
I know this is an old post, but after a lot of looking I have finally managed to get an Astra Jungle Jive!
However, I have a couple of questions:
1) Does anyone have a copy of a manual for this (or any of the other Cash Falls Astra machines), or know where I could get/download one?
2) Should the machine alarm at switch on? I know a lot of pushers do this, but should this machine do it? The Alarm is audiable, but there is no error message on the display, then everything works as it should. If this usual?
3) Does anyone have a copy of the original flyer?
Thanks in advance,
Mark

Machine which combine a pusher and a reel play can easilly follow percentage. Detect the coins entered and paid out. Then if the pusher is being a bit mean just drop more wins on the reels to give a bit of a boost to the payout. If the pusher is droppping oads of coins then hold back on the reel wins. Pretty simple really.
