Some of you are probably too young to remember Butlins Holiday Camps..most of them have shut down now to be replaced by Haven Holidays and Center Parks and the likes.
While bored oot ma t*ts earlier on i came across this site and the memories came flooding back..infact..i felt a wee bit sad about it..Great times when i was a wean..Ayr was the one we always went to.
Hopefully it will generate some good memories for you guys as well..Enjoy

Love the place.
Been to BOTH the Skegness and Minehead sites, but prefer the Minehead one for the simple fact I like me long country type walks, & you do not have to go far from the Minehead site to do just that.

I used to love these as kids (and we never went abroad so it was all I had).. But it's nothing compared to what it used to be.. so much free stuff - why they got rid of the day events - boating lake - monorail - chairlift - much bigger fair --- now even the toilets are pay as you go... I used to love the free cinema/ theatre - skalextrics etc... It's all gone.. But still good, just not as good.....

Butlins Memories
I went to Ayr Butlins with my mum and dad years ago. Don't remember much about it cos i was only young. But i remember all the arcade games machines were knackered and giving out free credits lol. I enjoyed myself. Yeah shame a lot of them have gone now.

I used to be a redcoat at butlins for a season back in 1996 and spent three seasons as a Haven entertainer.
Work hard play even harder .
My second season was spent as a kids presenter at Presthaven Sands (1994).
Fcuk me. I had the time of my life.
August Bank Holiday was (apart from my two kids being born) the greatest time of my life.
300 kids aged 5-11. Screaming for Rory the Tiger.
SSSSHHHH don't tell the kids but I was Rory, for those in the know about the Tiger Club!!!!!
Anyway yeah, fun was had by all. And I gave it all up for a woman. FOOL!!!!
Just in case my tag belongs to my girlfriend. I am a bloke called Mark.

lol @ Mark aka hmmmm cindy lol (kidding mate)
My local Butlins was Saltdean....We had some good nights entertainment in there, and when I was a teenager (2 years ago OK!!!!!!!) me and my mates used to hang around.....all the Northern lasses were on there Hols and we, well, I suppose were 'trainee' Red Coats and just made the hols special...
So if there's any unclaimed 20 Somethings with a fooking big nose they might be mine.....CSA need not reply!
Joking aside, the place was fantastic..stayed at the Kent One in Cliftonville a few times too -- great times...both have now been now sold for housing....WHY!!!!

Never heard of that one (Saltdean)... I worked in Butlins Skegness in 1995ish for four months as a shagging waiter - lol........ I applied to be a redcoat but they said the auditions were on the wrong day so decided to be a waiter........ Pea in your soup sir???
Fun... Fun... Fun.. and made lots of friends --- not spoke to any of them for years... there was this guy Andrew Ward Minter who I started with who thought he was Elvis and used to sit with his guitar outside his chalet singing trying to get the chicks... I scored way more than him!!!!!
Would have worked in the arcade but that would have been like sticking a druggy in charge of a methadone program

Spent a week at the Butlins in Bognor in the early 90's, what a fooking shite hole, should have been condemed ! - the following year we spent a week at a Haven in Great Yarmouth and that was great fun ..... a zillion percent improvment.

Used to go here in the mid eighties. Just looking at some of the pictures on this site - Reminds me of great times.
Been lots of places around the world - But Butlins in Minehead in the eighties (not after 1990's - Changed for the worse) was and still is the best holidays I ever went on.
Always had nice whether there too - Princess Ballroom FOREVER
Great thread this one Todd /me gets my old photo albums out for a look at.
