No, not a human one, I have two of those and that's pretty much enough for now.

I'm talking cars. Anyone who has been on the forums for a while will probably know that I currently drive a Diesel Laguna, which was bought for me by my wife for my birthday a few years ago. (http://www.fruit-emu...y-birthday.html)

Now that we've moved and I've changed jobs I have no need for a sensible car anymore because I'm not doing the mega-miles per year I used to. I therefore decided it was time to get something fun for the endless roads and roundabouts of Milton Keynes.

I have been toying for a few years with buying an Alfa Romeo 147, but checking the specs they're really not that special. About a year ago just by chance we got invited to a Renault special event at Leeds Castle where they let you test drive all the new cars. Well we test drove all the usual meganes and lagunas and all were much of a muchness. The only car they had which sparked any interest for me was a RenaultSport 225. After having had the test drive I wanted one pretty much instantly, but at a smudge under £20K I couldn't justify it.

Out of the blue about 2 weeks ago my wife says "It's about time you got a new car Al". Well say no more I thought, I was on the internet checking models and prices and visiting garages and eventually my wife found the car for me.

We picked it up last week and I must say I've never been happier. It's a RenaultSport Megane 225 Lux and it's like hot shit off a stick. Yeah, some might say you could have had a BMW or the like for the money but I've test driven some BMs and I just didn't like them.

Here's the specs for the techies amonst you and a few piccies (btw that's my new house behind the first pic, on the corner):

Engine 1998cc
Power 225bhp
Top Speed 147mph
0-62mph in 6.5 secs
Fuel Consumption around 33mpg
CO2 Emmissions 200g/km (doing my bit for the environment )

Colour is liquid black, full leather interior, front six CD changer, built in sat nav and keyless car opening and ignition.

18" alloys with bembo brakes.

My best mate had one and loved it (sold it recently to move to Australia) but they do move. Although for the same money you could have had a BMW

One of the reasons I bought it. It was an ex-demo from Whitehouse Renault and is imaculate inside and out and I swear they put a new set of tyres on it.

The only thing that would put me off something like that is that it's a Renault. It's like playing Russian Roulette having a car with French electronics. We've had Citroen, Renault, and have never had so many electrical faults, including ones that have caused the the car to completely die and reset itself while driving.

Still, maybe you are lucky? You've had a Renault before, I assume you didn't have too many problems?

I've had four without a single problem apart from the electric window breaking on my laguna, but that was a mechanical problem.

The wife however has had no end of shit with her 1.6 Laguna. Key cards, sunroof, tyre pressure indicators. I guess it's the luck of the draw.

The reason I buy renault is from my good experiences and the wealth of gadgetry you just don't get from other manufacturers.

Yeah the fact that its Renault would make me steer well clear of them

They have so many production errors in there cars that the refuse to acknowledge

I would not spend that much on anything made by a french car company.

I would of gone for Vauxhall MONARO 5.7V8 COUPE on a 56 plate for less than £20,000 more value than any renault (they hold there price well and are fun and cheap to maintain)

Also the Renault looks like crap Bad styling if you ask me no lines that flow on it

Comparing the 225 to a Monaro is a bit like comparing a Nissan Micra to a BMW. You can't really compare a car costing £29 to 38k new to one which is only £20k. Also I need a car that does a bit more than 17mpg.

You can when the 2nd hand price is less than 20k for a car less than a year old, less than 10,000 on the clock and if driven the right way will do much more than 17mpg

Just making the point that rather than looking at the first thing you like the look of, look around, Renaults are well known for faults and nothing being done about them. where as the Monaro has a proven track record over the last 5 years with not many complaints.

Most people look fall in love then buy and face the fallout

Right you..I take great offence to that..ill have you know if i ever sold my micra id get at least £31 for it
