Hello! I came across a 9.36gb download of fruit machine roms, googled what they were, and I think my mom is going to love being able to play real machines on her PC! I downloaded the roms, layouts, snaps, etc. I installed the emulators with the wizard. Now what? My download looks like this...

Layouts
    BFeMu
    JPeMU
    MFME
MPU5 Hexfiles
Rollback
Roms
Snapshots
SWP Machine Roms

What are all these? Reading I found that only BFeMu can play zipped layouts as long as the rom is inside the zip. I decided to test MFME to play Quack Shot, one I know my mom loves. I unzip the layout and try to run, cannot find the rom. I unzip the Quack Shot rom into the same directory and try to run, cannot find the rom. I unzip the hex file into the same directory and try to run, and it displays the layout no problem, but pressing 0 does nothing. Mousing over buttons and the coin slot gives me a hand, but clicking does nothing. Does Quack Shot just not work or am I doing something wrong?

Is there a reason my download has files in all different places? It seems like a major pain to have to unzip a bunch of files into the same directory to play.

Thanks in advance for you help! I'm looking forward to hearing quack... quack... QUACK!!! ;)

Just goto the DOWNLOAD SECTION of this site and download the machines you require.

You might also want to pop along to CLIFFS REPRO (link of left) and login as a GUEST (you will be able to find the latest FMFE there 9.4 & 10.1a, which are required for running the latest machines coming out)

If you then take a look at the links on the left and click on KNOWLEDGE BASE there is info on how to run your first machine.

Personally I would never have downloaded a 9.4Gb file from torrents as you never know what kind of nasties you might find within that file (virus, trojens and alsorts)

Everything you need is on this site (well along with a few other sites too)

best of luck and enjoy the games

Well, the torrent site I downloaded from is not public. It requires signup and you have to upload before you can download. And if you download more than you upload, you get banned. The downloads there can be trusted because if they were bad, the community would take them down.

I had read the running-your-first-fruit-machine post, but it just says to put the roma dn layout in the same directory and run. I did that, but Quack Shot did not run.

I'll go ahead and take your advice to download the things from this site. Thanks! Do I also need MFME 11, 11.8, 9.9, etc?

Edit: Quack Shot worked with 10.1a! Sweet! I do wish I could just a single version for the games. Remember my mom has to be able to figure this out. ;) Is there a way to launch games from the command line?

You will need MFME v 10.1a , 9.4 to run the newer machines and also to run some of the older machines v 3, 2 & 1

If also you wish to run BFM games you will need the BFM emulator
And if you wish to run JPM games you will need the JPM emulator

Once you get the hang of what needs what it is quite simple...
Also the MFME allows you to design your own games, so go on give it a shot and contribute to the site..
