Well I was browsing a few threads earlier that talked about an FE Online shop, but no one seemed to wanna do this.
I would like to take on this challenge, I am a website designer and feel that I could have a decent online shop for FE up and running within a matter of days
1. Anyone do any banners for me? (756x116)
2. What kinda items shall we have?
3. Anyone wanna help?
4. Some authorisation from the admin team for doing this "officially" Please
Leigh

i must have missed the threads refering to a shop. but i can't think what FME related stuff you could sell as its all freely available. the only suggestion I remember seeing floating on the forums is the idea of selling FME dvds on a non profit basis to try and combat the ebay sellers making money on them. i think the idea was that charge would only cost of disk + jiggy bag + postage. but i don't think this has ever been successfully implemented.
i think generally people get very nervous when anyone mentions 'selling' on here unless its relating to real fruit machines on ebay etc.
some months ago a programmer released a shareware based fruit machine simulator on this site - you had a certain amount of free goes then had to purchase the full game. many people were very unhappy with this. then the programmer opened up their own website.
if the idea is to create a website to sell FME stuff then i think its a no go. i can't think of anything to sell.
if this idea is something different and i'm missing something completely, sorry i've misunderstood and will wait for someone to advise what this is all about.

The threads I saw that I am referring to is about Fruit Emu merchandise, on the basis of cups, shirts, pens, etc.
Nothing that is freely available for download will be put up for sale as I'm not here to make money, I'm here to find ways to make fruit emu well known as I think it's a brilliant site - Plus I like to create websites lol, so for my FREE services, I think this is a rather cool idea

Well you never know
Like I said, I was reading a thread a while back about a few people requesting this but no one was interested in making one. I am offering to do this for free - to also keep my mind on things.
I like to give things to the community and as I can't do graphics, or can't afford to make a donation, I thought this the best way I could do something.
Whether some people won't purchase from it or not, is besides the question because I do think that some people will.

sorry about my misunderstanding, i havn't come accross the thread your refering to so i didn't realise it was merchandise you were refering to.
i do recall one experience of this type of thing and it didn't go well. 'Scotty' from FF some years ago offered FME t-shirts for sale. i can't remember exactly what happened now but some of us paid for them advising which design(s) we wanted. i think the idea was then to get them made up. i don't know what happenedand how much money was lost on the project but it ended up with us getting a full refund and blank mouse mats into which we can incert a picture/photo.
so i guess you would have to get merchandise made up and then try and sell it on your site. the problem is of course how many do you get made up and then how many will buy the product. seems to me it could become quite risky project. i'm not against such merchandise being sold but from what i've seen in the past, be careful and try and find some reputable/reliable suppliers.

Luckily enough, I am a registered company so have quite a few suppliers that work alongside me, who I have been dealing with for years.
I understand about all the problems in the past but I assure that this time it will be different. I for one don't like losing money and don't like to see anyone else lose it either.
I have quite a good business sense on me, considering all the work I have been doing with my company, which has now been made successful and I aim to portray this image to the Fruit-Emu community.

well it does sound interesting. i think most peoples minds are occupied with the footie tonight, perhaps you'll get more responses when thats all over!!
i'm not sure that i can help much, i've got no idea about graphics either.
as for the type of merchandise, the ones you have mentioned:
pens - not sure what your going to put on a per, perhaps downsized reelbands?
mugs - i think i could buy a mug or two with a picture of y favourite emulated fruit machine(s) wrapped round it, or plates perhaps?
shirts/t shirts - i'm not sure if most people would wear such a t shirt/shirt unless perhaps they were going to an FME meet.
mouse mats? - i could imagine these to be popular.
this may be a way of implementing the idea of offering FME dvds at a non profit making price. others on here will have their views on that. in the early days of FME it was easy to keep track and download all the ofered layouts. These days its almost impossible to keep track as there are so many different sites and layouts being released and i can see that for someone new to the scene with well over 2000 games that can be downloaded, it could be tempting to purchase a dvd with everything on it. but of course with the current Ebay situation, the people selling and making money on the FME stuff are just taking from these sites and the work of the designers.
you mentioned @getting authorisation from admin' in a previous post. i don't see you need to get authorisation from the admin/mods to do this. there are several FME sites so i don't see you need to get authorisation from one in particular. i would suggest see what other responses you get from people here, if you get positive responses/help etc, open your site withe merchandise on offer and then approach the various FME sites and see if they will allower you to have a link on their site. i guess some will and others may not.
hopefully, some others will come along ang give their thoughts and ideas on this.
good luck

I know that at one time either FF or FE had T-Shirts and mugs, although believe that was a one off, but with the way my memories been going lately I am probably wrong about this too
Problem is I don't think people want to be walking around with Fruit-Emu on their T-Shirts, unfortunately I believe that Fruit machines are most of our shameful secret that we tell the mrs you are just putting a pound in to while quickly firing in a tenner in reality.....
You want to sell some section 18 simulators for me?? Just kidding

This has been done before and usually gets little take up. Shops can be set up in a matter of minuites, take a look at this link
http://www.cafepress.com/dxcellent
Cafepress does everything and basically you get a cut.
I have done a limited production run of T-Shirts for a competition we ran a while back now, but to run this at a low scale to sell works out highly un-economical.
Not knocking the idea, just in practice you probablly will get litttle return!
And James I still go out in my exclusive FE polo shirt :-)

WOW! has pook ever advertised it? i don't remember seeing anything about his merchandise. can you pay them by paypal or do you have to have a credit card? so does pook get back a certain percentage per item?
