Story for yer
I took my credit card to a local arcade and had more than enough to keep me going for the full day.
I was doing ok till I decided to hit a Golden Game.
I put £350 in the same machine out of the 3 and it never gave me £25 once.
The coin slot was slow to accept coins as I had obviously filled a tube and it didn't like it.
A technician walking past said "i'm going to have to have a look at that" and said it wouldn't affect the payout.
The technician then said he would have to switch off the machine and said "sorry"
I was gutted....to the point i refuse to play there now.
It's my firm belief that the play on this game was illegally adjusted.
I know the wind-up trick also....wait till it flashes for the golden "X" on the bonus nudges section and nudge so you don't take a win. The next time you get a feature it is £25 guaranteed. Usually within £10 play of the wind-up.
This never happened once.
This makes me wonder how many arcades actually get regular checks from officials to check percentages...and what stops them from adjusting them when there is no check scheduled.
I now learn to live with this fact....
If an arcade isn't stealing a little from the punter.....it's stealing a lot.
The only winners from fruit machines are the arcade owner, the manufacturer and the taxman.
Amusements my hernia
the golden game

::First jackpot::-::2p-a-go Winspin::-::£1.50 jackpot from 4p gamble::-::was still in a pram:: Anyone fancy doing WinSpin? Cant find it and would love to see it done.
Only £500 jackpot on Little Devils which I got waiting for a Rainbow Riches (£70) feature to end. Then I got £210 on the feature on Rainbow Riches. My mrs was happy that day!

I'm sure that if there are actual gaming inspectors to check out wether arcades are being fair or wether they are fiddling punters, I'm sure like in any other regulated industry, they always send a letter a good month in advance to say they are coming to visit. Ample time to correct any fiddles.

Indeed they do.
In Las Vegas though they have random checks that happen quite frequently.

Hi ya mate sorry to hear that you put all that money in the golden game machine, well we all know that there was a problem with that machine as the golden game will not take £350 and payout nothing!!! Thats not on!!!
Our golden game machine in the gala tends to payout a fair bit, but hey it is set at 90% payout, well at least it was untill today when we changed the % to 84%!
you can easly put in "150 in the golden game, but you would still get a fair few wins, however if you put these back in you will walk empty handed!!
Most people tend to play the golden game and save the xxx wins i know there only a £5 but they soon add up!! however when they walk away with there £60 -£70 pounds, someone else soon pops on there and in no time at all there up the top winning big bucks, i wouldnt walk away unless ive been up the top, as the golden game is great at stashing money, just before a big payout!
I play the golden game at my local showboat and they know i work just across the road, so they dont blab me off with there silly excuses!!!!!!
The rule with the golden game is, the min you break-even or win more than you have put in take it and walk away!!!!! its a must do with this machine, otherwise your on the long trip home skint!!!!

I don't have that much trouble with the local arcade around here, golden game usually take in about £50 - £80 before giving out the big win, and u know when that happens (like the quiet before the storm), it takes in the whole £50 to £80 with no win what so ever, then it will give u the flashing golden X symbol. I think of all the machines golden game and Electronics (forgot the name, its got blue 7s as £25 jackpot, only wins are £5, £10 and jackpot) are the only machines i would be happy stucking in £80 and knowing it will pay out, sometimes even more then i put in. But i have to admit it is very boring indeed just putting in money and pressing start like a million times.....

We have the Golden Game in our local arcade. The machine can easily take £350+ without going for the big one, if it's on a low percentage AND has just paid out the big one, and had to be refilled.
Interesting set-up on these. The two outer ones are clearly on quite a low percentage, as they will usually take £100+ down the back before even thinking about giving more than £25 up top, and play really badly. The middle one is the "bait" as it doesn't usually take more than £20 down the back before giving the flash for the biggie, and is so obviously on a higher percentage.
There have been various scams on these machines, on all versions, and there is definitely a current fiddle on them, occasionally strangers will come in and head straight for them, usually empty them within ten minutes but I cannot for the life of me work out how it is done. Nothing to do with knocking back the flash or the XXX's as far as I can see. I found out about the trick with knocking back the XXX's on the early chip, the day after it was chipped out.
If anyone knows anything more about this, could they PM me...?

The odds of winning big on these machines must be slim. For all those that win, theres many many more that lose. So already, you're at a disadvantage if you look at the stats. Then you have the machine taking it's very own cut of any cash wagered, reducing those wins even more. Then you have the regulars who may get the odd 'thats ready to pay' tip from staff. Then you get the so called 'pro player' trying his opportunity too. You also have the low payout percentages owners set their machines to. Many set at the bare minimum 70% with a card inside the machine that says 70% on one side and 86% on the other, that the owner has 'mistakenly' put in wrong way round displaying the 86% (he's quite a dumbass really as he's made this error on all his 40+ machines). Then you have operators dliberately tampering with them or running faulty machines. Or even staff playing 'ready to pay' machines after close of business.
If you're not a part of any of those cuts of the cash, then it has to be nothing short of a miracle to win big on any machine. Lets face it fellas. The nice carefree 'entertaining' arcades of the 80's have now become sophisticated dens full of scams and cheats to increase the owners earnings at the expense of all that play. Wether rich or poor, he don't descriminate. Theres nowhere safe to play now. Even pub and club owners have the ability to hinder a fruit machines true operation.
