Hi everyone,
Brand new here and already asking for help....
I have a Vivid Car Wash (2002) and everything works fine apart from what used to be intermittent and is now a permanent fault. The fault is that only the lights on the reels and around the reels light up. I.E. the lights that aren't part of gameplay such as nudges, buttons, trail etc.
It used to be that I could power off the machine and leave it and things would start working again but now this workaround is failing.
I have had a quick fiddle at the MUX5E board and checked the fuses. Only 1 LED is lit whereas when it did work, they both were.
Question is, what to check next *or* do I simply need a new MUX5E?
Thanks in advance
JT

if that status light isnt flashing then either the LED itself has a problem or you MUX or MPU needs replacing

There are two LEDs. I'm not 100% what I'm dealing with so bear with me:
The LED next to the fuses is out, when it worked fine this would be green. Is this the 34v light?
The other LED is "flashing its twat off".

I did notice when I was checking the fuses as I put one back in, the LED next to the fuses flickered briefly but only the once and hasn't done since. If I pull one fuse, nothing happens (one next to the LED), If I pull the other fuse the machine gets a tad angry and screams "Hey Check it out".

Yeah the one next to the fuses is the 34v light so just mess about with it until it lights up and stays on .. you mite have a dodgy MUX board which might need replacing ( do that if you can do it ) or just make sure the fuse is in properly .. it will be sommet or nothing it usually is ..

one of the fuses on the mux board will be faulty or blown.
the fuse will probably look ok but will still be blown.
it will probably be the 5amp fuse as these were all upgraded to 6.3 amp fuses to stop this fault.
i still have sort this fault today as barcrest still sometimes put 5amp fuses on the mux board.

I fiddled about with the fuse and also with a piece of looped (insulated) wire touching across the contacts, managed to make a connection, light the LED and get it working. Tested the fuses again and they are all OK. I'm guessing the MUX is gone. Would anyone on here have a spare they want to sell?
The details on the board read:
BARCREST 2001 - MUX5E - XP19642 ISS3
Kind regards
