compost, the melon meter you refer to is now illegal, banks were outlawed a while ago mate
I'm a little young to remember melon meters so i have a question. Why are they illegal? What is the difference between an illegal melon meter, and a legal cashpot? Im confused. Maybe this seems a daft question, but remember i've never seen a melon meter.
Cheers to anyone who can elighten me.

Thats far from daft its totally logical if you ask me.
A Melon meter was a Meter which rose at random (Just as a cashpot does) and if you got the melons on reels 1 & 2 you would win it thats all.
Going back to the Cashpot, there are some old posts in the forum on this subject....So if nobody gives the answer and you can't find it i'll take a look.

I see you are a Depeche Mode fan RB...Nice one!!!
Top 10 (in no particular order)
Silver Shadow (Barcrest)
Cash Counter (Barcrest)
Hi-Rise (Barcrest) - Not sure if this was the early 90's but surely deserves a mention and should be emulated asap.
Big Banker (JPM) - The original 10p one, not that newer crap.
Supatrack (JPM)
Flash Note (Barcrest) - 'cos I loved the flashing notes
Club Celebration (Barcrest) - I won £10 off this on holiday when I was 17 and it bought me 12 pints (yee..hah!!!)
Silver Ghost (BFM) - I think!!!
Line-Up (Barcrest)
....Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand 10!!!
Bully's special prize....a shitty caravan....oh sorry, my mind was wandering there ))
I can't remember number 10...but it was by Barcrest again and it had a £2 repeater if you managed to get the ALL CASH ADVANCE feature or the 3 symbols on the winline. £4 Jackpot.

Sorry not OLD ENUF to remember PAST fruities
(Only joking )
The only one I recall out of what people have put was SPOOF
However, I was only 8 then, now I can't remember what I did last night
lol
(that may be alcohol tho)
One point I'd like to make tho.... Why remember the past?
Half the machines you've mentioned as "Machines of the 80's"
I still know of places that has them!!!!
Does that make them machines of the 21st century
All I do know is that I remember playing machines that had 2 slots
you could either put 10p in for 5 plays or 2p in a go.
Never really paid much attention to names, still dont.
I play some good £25 machines, couldn't name any of them tho

surprised no one has mentioned Top Gears
also there was a machine around 1987 where a pound coin would run past a yellow crane and you had to click whilst it was in its jaws cant remember the machine. Also liked the crystal maze. 1st machine i ever played was chances unlimited 2nd was rock pile ( dam that brings back memories) ahh my local also had a Vanguard arcade machine, and yes i used to get to the end around 1983 i think

Was more into video games back in the 80s, didn't get into fruities until the early 90s (Crystal Maze, Duty Free, etc).
Games that consumed the big old 10p coins back in the day:
Green Beret
Xevious
Airwolf
1942
Double Dragon
Choplifter
Hypersports
Donkey Kong
Pacman
Kung Fu Master
