In my honest opinion - Great Singer.

Don't think Mark really stood a chance, although he gave his best. It was a shame Sam got voted off as I think he would have given Michelle a run for her money.

Maybe i am being a shallow chauvinist pig but the one thing that comes instantly to mind is , Kylie (nice arse) ,Brittany (nice everything), Christina (dirrrrrrrrrty girl)........Michelle.....hmmmmm well if i was a young lad i certainly wouldn't have a poster of her on the wall to help with my nocturnal habits!!!!!!

Well peronaly, I think it's a slap in the face for the whole pop idol B**lshit.
The whole point of the thing is to create another puppet for the music industry, and she doesn't fit into the mold of someone you can get to take thier clothes off to sell records, so therefore has got there through nothing but an ability to sing.
I f@ckin hate the pop idol thing, as it's just another way of selling bad records to gulible people who don't know any better.

Lets have real music performed by the people who write it!!!!!!!!!!!!

i agree with uya i hate pop idol as it makes someone who had no intentation to be a singer in to someone who will most lickly get a number 1 hit just as they were on this show there are singers in this world which are excerlent which people dont know off i prober singer needs to right there own songs as well i will bet you 100 % the 1st 2 songs she will relase will be a copy!

Pop Idol is total nonsense really. Talent or no talent, all they are is good kareoke singers. Something that you or I can do just that they are better. The pop industry sucks anyway at the moment when groups like Westlife, Blue, Atomic Kitten and more can get to No1 and rake in millions of pounds from singing other peoples songs. Look how many cover versions are in the charts each week. It's scandalous really. At least on the BBC's fame academy show, the contestants are made to create songs themselves. Theres no talent singing other peoples songs. I know people that sing kareoke songs on a par with the likes of Westlife but they ain't famous.

I think this is one of this topics that have strong points for both sides. Pop idol gives people an opportunity to those who want to "make it big", and the people that star in it have alot of pressure (imagine going against thousands of people), im not a follower of such a show as im not really a person for programmes like pop idol, big brother etc (infact i don't even know the programme names lol), but basically shows which "star" joe blogs. I mean if they chose someone whos got the looks, then everyone will say the judges are just going for looks. But i have to admit the winner is no Holly Valance but nor is Missy Eillot, but she managed to rack up millions with talent (u may not be a fan of her or are against R&B, hip hop etc, but thats beside the point). But maybe you should also consider the winners background, maybe she comes from a poor background and she gave it all. End of the day there can only be one winner, so for one winner theres millions who have something against them. The music industry tend to use looks more then talent, i mean in the end of the day most people would judge them by the looks first before they hear the voice. its a shame but thats reality, whether you like it or not. Music at the moment is churned out like tins of cat food, they have the same recipe for all the songs, so none of them will really stand out and become actual classics. I have to admit that it takes alot of guts to go on pop idol without the looks, think of all the dirty looks you get because of your weight. ( no im not a fat bastard!). but anyway, time will tell what happens to her from here, so we will see. If you really don't like the show or her or for whatever reason then theres really no point arguing about it, just don't watch the show and ignore the papers which will no doubt have her on the pages for time yet.

there`s been some excellent comments, but i guess it all boils down to personal taste, and true enough, singing someone elses song doesnt make you great.

Pop idol, Big Brother, Fame Academy etc...

One thing i did hear is that the final 4 were all pretty cack and it makes the music industry look like it is suffering to find new talent..

On the subject of music. i happen to be a big fan of the 80's and i get so wound up when i hear some young teen band come out with a remix of a great classic and F*** it up beyond recognition...

All the kids love it but hey people it was done once before by an even better artist. I sit there and curse at the TV or radio when i hear a remix come on it really does my nut in...

Cant these new boy / girl bands write their own songs ???? Is the music world so easy to get into now that all you have to do is take an 80's classic add a base line and some guy in the back scratching away then some blonde who cant really sing trying to sing along.

Well i think who ever made this thread about michelle is kind of pathetic she won because ppl wanted her to win looks like most of the uk aint bothered about the way she looks if they were she wouldnt of won.

and for the ppl who are slaggin her off you should all be beatin with a stick till dead slaggin someone off coz they are fat and ugly is just as bad as slaggin off black ppl coz of the colour of their skin..
