Hi All

The Repro is once again offline as the PC has crashed I am sure the crashing is being caused by one of the HDD powering down, Howerver I am not sure which one it is and why, I am making investigations as to the reasons for this but have not yet found oout why, for this reason the Repro will be off line until i get this issue sorted. At this point in time I cannot give any time scales as to when it will be back, I am sorry for this loss of the repro but please be assured this only a temp measure and It will be back just as soon as I can discover what is causeing the PC to keep crashing.

Regards

As I typed in the shoutbox about 9 times before I gave Up:bigeyes24:It could just be a
Doddgy molex more powerfull psu allways good idea unless go overkill and get
1200 watt or something stupid that would only need having 2 ultras:bigeyes02:..

Hi

The machine i use is not a server as such (IE not like the servers i have at work) its a normal PC specs as follows celeron 2.5ghz with on board every thing 512mb ram and a raid controler card allowing an extra 4 IDE HDD's this means 6 HDD and 2 X DVD re-writers. Cooling is done with 3 large case fans 2 on the back of the case and one in the removerble side, the standard CPU cooler fan and the 2 fans in the PSU which is currently a 550 W jobby.

Hi

Sounds like a possible over heat problem there the PC will reboot like that if the CPU gets to hot you can get little progs that will show the amount of cpu useage the temp of the cpu and the temp of the inside of the case i use MBM5 but there are others get one of thease and see what temp your CPU is doing when running the EMU

Hi

I think the issue is one of the HDD's is cutting out i think this is due to exess heat in the drive bay the 6 hdds are very tightly packed, i am going to look at some HDD cooling solutions at the weekend so i hope this will resolve the issue

Get that program and see what your CPU temp is or alternatevly remove the lid from your pc and Check that your CPU cooling fan is still spinning at all or if it is make sure its spinning at full speed, if it seems to be then remove the fan from the CPU and give both the fan and the heat sink a good dust as dust can reduce cooling effinacy in the fan. You can also check CPU temp by entering your BIOS on boot up most recent BIOS's have a way to see the current cpu temp in both Degrees C or F. If its showing silly hot after the pc reboots on you then you can be sure you have a CPU Cooler issue going on there Danny.
