just wanting to know how can i turn my old pc into a server so i do not slow my laptop down
is there any special tools or programs that i need to install to make it into a server:confused:

Care to elaborate on your plan for this what would the server do just stream mp3s and files to the lappy?

just wanting a file server for all my files like music and programs that others and myself can access through my broadband of other computers :confused:

So in effect you want to send files over the internet research FTP (File Transfer Protocol) that would mean you could send files to other folks on the net to send locally from desktop to laptop just setup networking.

Remember to set permissions up for the ftp or remote users can delete your files etc.

just turn on file and printer sharing on the hardrive and you can find it on any pc on the same network
toddy likes to change signatures as he has nothing better to do..
