I cant seem to exit free play mode on my mpu5. Every time i press start it gives me £5 credit. Any ideas?

Well that might be it, cos the door is showing as open all the time on the display. Have checked the door switch and is working fine. Have even tried removing door switch from the loop, but still shows as open!

Have also tested bottom door switch to no avail.

if theres another switch attached inside you will ned to tape it in so it will go in normal my monopoly was enabled only in test by a extra door switch someone had fitted

check your hopper dump switch inside the bottom cashbox because if i wire broken of this the it will show as door open.

What should that switch do? I mean should it show anything on the display when i press it?

close the top door and turn the refill key.

press the hopper dump button and the machine should make a noise and will say hopper dump on the alpha.

if it does this then its not hopper dump button that is causing the problem.

When I open the bottom door when the top door is closed the machine just displays "Percent Key ?" and bleeps. So when i pressthe hopper dump button nothing happens.

do you have a % key in your machine?

Nope, using dip switches on mpu5 board.

try getting an actual % key and see if that sorts out your problem as the machine wont play in real money mode if your % settings are wrong.

i never use the % on the motherboard always a % key.

Ok, will get one off ebay tonight. Are the adjustable ones any good?

yeah get an adjustable one as then you dont need to buy another again.

also i have put up a link to the settings for the % key on another thread(the force 10 one)

ok, thanks for your help, i'll let you know how i get on when it comes. Is this a common fault?

only if you have the % key set at an invalid % or the stake and prize settings are wrong.

your game chips may only allow the stake and prize that you originally got the machine at and if its set at anything else you will get an invalid mode error as well.

i very much doubt its an mpu fault.

if the user name impact reads this he may shed more light on this as he seems to know more about this tech than what i do(hence his user name)
