Try restarting the pc then give limewire a couple of mins to connect, while your waiting for limewire to connect minimize it incase there is any virus checker/management prog asking to allow limewire access to internet in background

Can't remember what version, but you might need to do File/Connect first.

It might be down to his ISP.
Some providers throttle P2P connections because they dont want people filesharing & taking all the server speed from regular internet users.
Also Limewire & the likes i wouldnt use unless you want virus.
Torrents are much better & safer.
Download a program called utorrent & search for "torrents" in google & you should find sites quite easily.

Use limewire for single MP3's "ONLY" never programs..movies or games.

Use Torrents for all the rest.

So my mate told me ye understand as i would never do anything like that.
Mmmmmm...Sandy ive 'ad her ye know. :)

You proberly have a router that needs port forwarding set up. See if the router is here PortForward.com - Free Help Setting up Your Router or Firewall and follow the instructions.

Wouldnt have thought so frig..as i am on a router and i never had any probs connecting to the network without opening a port for it.

I do have a port open for my mates Utorrent program though. ;)

It will be the ISP like i said above, a lot of them do it, i was with BT & my torrents were slow as hell, now with Talktalk & there flying & its still the same line.
