Rush Blog - Rush is a Band Blog: John Rutsey passes away at age 55
The Q107 Rock Report is reporting that Rush founding member John Rutsey passed away over the weekend according to Rush's management company Anthem. Rutsey was with Rush from 1968 to 1974 and played on the band's self-titled debut album after which he quit the band due to creative differences and health issues. He was replaced by Neil Peart in the summer of 1974. He died on Saturday, May 11 at the age of 55. As of the moment there has been no official statement on a cause of death nor plans for a memorial service.

It was sad news for someone who wasn't really that old. And it if wasnt for John we'd never have had another 30+ years of Rush.
Looking forward to the new Snakes and Arrows DVD, Cant come soon enough.

Well thanks to a very kind hearted soul in #mpu34, I now have a bootleg of the Sheffield Show (The Birmingham one is also doing it's rounds somewhere), of which I went to with Trouty, and the quality is infact tons better than the actual OFFICAL live album that got released (The cannon shot on Far Cry actualy worked out quite well compared to some of the other sNa boots).
If any of you require a cough cure of this, then drop me a PM, as due to it's size (235 MB), i'll probs have to send via IRC (#mpu34) or poss MSN
Glad to hear it. Was thanx to Trouty that I got into Rush myself a few years back and have a few faves myself, like: Limelight, Spirit Of Radio, Earthshine, Totem, and my current fave, Faithless
Between us, we have mannaged to aquire quite a number of bootleg's of live shows (54 in total, and there are a number more out there), so if you wish, drop me / Trouty a PM, and I am sure one of us can sort you a DVD service

I've got too many favs. to mention. Depends which decade your on about, lol.
I love faithless off the new album too. If you ever get a chance to read Neil's book Ghost rider do so, It's a great read about his troubles when his Daughter died in a car crash, Then his wife passed away shortly after. It was good to read how he got his life back together and then back to drumming.
