Hi everyone, Im mark and am a new machine owner to the title listed above....

Could some of you possibly help me in a problem i have with the machine not working?

when the machine is plugged in 5 red lights appear on the power pack/transformer, so it appears all the fuses are fine from a visual check also. there are red led's on the reels (1 on each) but apart from this nothing.

No bulbs, lcd display or anything is working. there is a status led on the motherboard but this is not lit up (should it be?).

I have a feeling the motherboard maybe down although the led on the reels are obviously being powered by this or is the current just sailing through??

your help would be much appreciated. Thankyou

Any sign of the battery having leaked on the MPU?
It really is the number 1 killer of fruit machines.

The battery has no leakage at all and is in a very clean state, the machine has sat for a year although i cant see that being an issue as the location was no different to an average living room for climate etc...

hi mark and welcome to fruit-emu

Can i get u to do a number of things for me please. One is to turn the machine off hold the impact test sw for 10/15 secons and turn the power back on just then let me know if the speaker pops. A number of time

Two would be to turn the machine off remove the processor card short the battery out. Or the cap close one to you looking at it was still fitted into machine

Once turn the machine on if after 20secons the status is not on then try resitting the programme proms.
.._-=It`s not a problem only a challenge =-_..

Hi, thankyou for the information, it is much appreciated although I am very new to all of this so have a couple of Q's on your advice.

the processor card, this being the main board with the status light? do i need to remove it completely or can i just disconnect the loom from the battery/transformer?

secondly, how is the best method to short the battery, an again i assume this is the part where the power supply from house is plugged directly into?

when you say reset the programs proms, is this by again using the button on the processor board?

Sorry to be a pain just dont wanna do anything wrong....Nervous!!!

make sure machine is switched off.
take the cover of the mpu(big board behind the reels with the status light.)
there will be up to 3 cards plugged in at the base of the mpu.
make sure all of these cards are plugged in correctly with no bent or broken pins.

this fault sounds like what cardie said that the machine is working but doesn't know what software to load so its probably the processor card that causing the fault.

I have taken out the game card, checked the pins and etc put it back in the slot but no different. There is a minor bit of corrosion on part of the game card but that doesnt appear to be a cause in my opinion.

When shorting the battery out, I assume it would be done in the same way as a car battery, bit of wire over the top? What does this do in fruit machine lingo?

I have found a new impact board for £9 so will fit that when it arrives. What happens if it is the game card are these easily found on the net?

Thanks guys, your help is much appreciated.

Yes, as you describe, although I have never recommended shorting any battery. It's safer to remove it. What colour is the battery by the way?
Shorting/ removing the battery wipes the memory, it clears the ram so the machine starts again from scratch.

Another possibility is that the Eproms themselves have corrupted, although this is relatively unusual.
If there is any corrosion on the gamecard then it could still be significant - are any of the copper tracks affected?
If so they should be metered for continuity.
