Turned on my PC and ive got the annoying little red thingy in my taskbar..saying that automatic updates are switched off.

Go into control panel > security center > manage security settings for automatic updates > on (recommended) > apply > ok.

Its still there :bigeyes19:

Any ideas lads.

Windows 7 may well be a good OS, but it will be stuffed full of DRM and similar.

What you need to ask yourself is "Can windows XP still do the job". Whilst the answer is yes, I won't be upgrading. And neither should anyone else.

Seriously what can Vista do that XP can't. And DX10 / 10.1 doesn't cont becase the speed improvements associtated with DX10+ are negated by the shitty, bloated operating system.

If i were you id install AVG free 7.5 Download AVG Free Edition 7.5.524 - FileHippo.com

Install it..shut down PC guard..Switch off your modem (to disconnect from the net) as youll have no firewall..Run an AVG scan to see if it picks up anything.

Used PC Guard for moons on my PC and IMO the firewall done what it was supposed to do quite well.

But i wouldnt trust the AV on it as far as i could throw it.
