Is Fruit-EMU allowing ad's? I had this bomb drop down my screen and a pop-up appear. Something about having MP3's and stuff on our own websites. I hope it isn't a hack or something.

Just testing some ads out to bring in some revenue :

They should only appear once during your browsing experience
They should be partially relevant!
Just click the 'X' in the top corner to get rid of them
You can switch them off completely by visiting http://www.popinads.com

I might really be hated for this post .. lol ..but.........
Emu has to be paid for somehow don't you think...
I agree totally it is a bit annoying but then its only a little click to close...this is (in my opinion) the best Emu site around the whole net (and i'm sure loads will agree).
The upkeep can't be cheap, if anything it shouldn't cost the host's anything, let's face it look just how big Emu has got in such a short time.

The trouble with pop up's is that they are universally loathed, people hate them probably more than anything else on the internet, and the sad truth is that you'll be lucky to generate any revenue from them at all. For that to happen people have to click on the ad and be taken to the site itself, and people simply won't do that.

Though I doubt it would stop many people visiting the site, as said, closing them off is easy enough, they really aren't worth the hassle of having them in the first place.

Hmm, I've just visited the pop up website, though it states that payment is per page view and not the click thru rate, if you dig a little deeper you come across this:

"we can not accept and will not pay for Traffic from Adult Sites or Illegal Sites. These include but are not limited to Warez, ROM's, EMU's, newsgroup postings, SPAM emails or sites with Adult Content. Also, any falsification of traffic will be grounds for immediate termination from the program and forfeiture of any accumulated payments"

EDIT.. As soon as i posted this one of the sodding things appeared

Well I opted out and the next time I logged on no pop-up. The time after that I got 50. Now all I can see is pop-ups, so I decided to opt back-in (another useful and popular feature) and now my washing machine doesn't work. :( Is it any wonder we all take heroin? We do don't we? Bloody pop-ups, bloody pop-off! 8)

*edit* AND 1 after posting? Geez, too much guys, that really isn't necessary is it?

Since I 'opted out' I'm getting these ads on all kinds of different sites, particularly the annoying 'Stop pop-ups now!' rubbish. I'm already using a pop-up blocker and until today was happily pop-up free! Anyone else being plagued? They're even popping up after explorer has been shut down! Opt out my arse, they're getting a DoS attack!

the pop ups stoppped on my pc when i set my firewall/popup blocker to block java scripts, scripts, embedded objects and mime-type intergrated objects as well as the usual banner, skyscraper, pop up/under and animations.

i wonder how long it will be before the next one appears.

i will gladly put up with these ads if they are indeed bringing the site revenue, even though they are bloody annoying.
