I do not play on real machines but i do like to play on the emulated one that are provided on this site. I quite like the club Thunderbirds one as im trying my best to win the jackpot, unsuccesful up to now. While im trying to win the big one im trying to figure out the principles of a machine that will allow me to win the big payout.
Going back to my question, what are the real principles of a machine in the betting office or the arcades? The machine is basically a computer taking money and giving out a percentage, but what is the internal 'thinking' of a machine in terms of giving and taking whats going on?
its a bit of a thinking question but im sure hardcore players will understand the question.

I get what he means.
Essentially there are a lot of different methods of control. And this could vary from machine to machine as it is entirely based on the software not the hardware. For instance, old maygay I believe has something like a very flat profile i.e. £10 in £7 out and then slowly saves up little bits for a streak.
Generally its best to think of the percentage as different 'pots' of money each spin adds a bit of cash to each pot. When it fills a pot up, it pays out. Of course there is usually a pot for the smaller "regular play" wins and a seperate pot for Jackpots / streaks.
There are a few secret test modes on machines which will allow you to see these pots, as opposed to simply the target and actual percentage. But I don't remember how to get in them and Its not something I would post publicly as it could be used to profile a machine.
