Most people have realised the fruitforums is down - it looks like the domain might have expired and some scrote has nicked in there and registered it, or something along those lines...

It looks like the fruitforums domain is owned by a Mr Daewoo Matiz

The whois info from the domain is as follows.

Whois Server Version 2.0

Domain names in the .com and .net domains can now be registered
with many different competing registrars. Go to InterNIC | The Internet's Network Information Center

So unless this is always been the case - something is amiss. Given the expiry dates and the recent changes - this might be the problem.

I noticed that yesterday and thought it looked strange. The nameservers however are still correct meaning the site should still work regardless of any change of owner.

So the owners didn't know that the domain registration was coming to an end? To be honest, I am more swayed by a theory of some scrote hacking the site rather than a domain ownership problem. Especially seeing as those running it, I was under the impression that they were pretty 'computer' zavvy likes.

If it's any consolation, I may not contribute there and no longer care too much for the place, but I hope it's resolved soon for those who only frequent that site and no other. Content is indeed thin but there are still one or two threads that appear there that make me chuckle. Yes, I still browse. Or did until it vanished. So I hope it's back soon and not fallen due to an embarrassing oversight.

Just managed to make a post @ FF. Seems the (A) DNS records have disappeared, and any ISP related to CPW is still able to connect.

Dead now in relation to ISP's connected to CPW (Talk Talk, AOL, OneTel).

It deffo is starting to look like a DNS hack of sorts.

Well, this is what I have managed to find, but it's not looking very good: WHOIS domain registration information results for fruitforums.com from Network Solutions

Seams to be the same info Pembo has dug up.

This basically tells us 2 things..... Either the domain has not been renewed, or some DNS hack has kicked off like Daysleeper was describing yesterday in IRC.

Well if the domain name has expired then he should have got a letter (by post) explaining that it soon will expire. I say that because when I used to own two domains, at different times I got two letters by post saying that it's due for renewal.

if there is domain/dns problems, surely the best thing to do is set up another temp URL until the issue can be sorted.

I thought that if the domain expired there is some period of grace before it's offered 'on sale' to the public. I might be wrong.

It does state 'Client : onhold' which is when the domain has expired I think.

I thought it was changed to that ages ago as it previously had someones name and address on it.

I prefer 'The Bhalti Boards' has a kind of ring (of fire) to it.

Hi,

Just to let people know it does seems registrar based, from what i can tell it is pending renewal with which there is a 30 day grace period (60 with some registrars)

Also, if i remember correctly, the whois records you see have been like that for some time, i remember checking them a while back and scratching my head lol.

I have no control over the domain itself so there isnt anything i can do but alls fine on the servers and the servers DNS records (this has been checked, double checked & triple checked).

Hopefully someone like SA or Rogue will be able to fix this and its just a simple case of forgetting to renew it.

Also, could an admin or mod please change my username to Jortex, bloody firefox filled it in for me and i didnt think to check it first.

Cheers.

One rule about owning a website is never forget to renew the domain name.
