Right guys. As stupid as Stu appears to be, this thread is about Guitar's forthcoming new emulator...so let's leave it as a discussion about that eh? Perhaps a mod can sever the arguments and put them on another thread. Christ knows what Guitar is thinking. This is supposed to be the friendly forum, unlike certain others. Let's face it!! FF is old hat and Fruit-Emu is where it's happening. Ye old attention seekers are trying to throw their tuppence worth into the ring...but it's jaded....so let's move on!!!

If Guitar's emulator is as good as we think it will be then it's definitely time to move onwards and upwards.

Just wanted to post quickly to say that I have the beta up and running with the roms forTuppeny Nudger. As guitar said it's in the very early stages and prone to crashing (at least it is on my PC!). However the lamps are flashing, the 7 seg display is up and running and the reels are spinning. In my book that's an emulator pure and simple.

I can see that alot of hard work has gone into this and there is tons more work to go. guitar deserves all our support to continue his work.

And don't bother PM'ing me for a copy

Well a little update for you all. The editor is now doing what it should and all the framework is in. A lot of the smaller forms for game options etc are all in. Both me and JohnnyBE have managed to get 80FPS out of it now with a little adjustment to the core. And theres some more slimming to be done to indexed addressing. It can do a few things that MFME cannot, but not in machine terms per se. But I'm remaining tight lipped. Because secrecy is fun, builds suspense, and because carrot dangling is an art form.

It is coming soon I have honestly put in 12 hours on it in the last few days. the problem is that to add in extra features is easier now than at then end, and I keep thinking of new ways to do stuff.

I believe that Barcrest didn't use CHR chips on their 2p play machines. So can anybody name some MPU4 2p games?

Plus its going to take me a day to write up the docs and faq and help files. Possibly two.

Once all the bits are plumbed in completely I can tidy it up, fix the meters error, which I know how to do, but need to get round to. I'm saving the emu stuff till the end so I can get this boring editor out of the way.

I don't know if Duplu has said anything about the emu I sent him, but the finished version will have loads more features. The emu I sent to Duplu was pretty baron in editor terms.

If anyone has any suggestions for what features they might like to see, please go ahead and speak up. If its a good idea I will do my best to include it. You can be a little "out of the box" if you like. Anything to add more realism, or some features you'd like to see. Anything you wish MFME, JPeMu, BFMulator could do.

Unfortunately I don't think that sound emulation will be in release 1. But with the core tweaks there is overhead for it which is good. I'm not really sure how to deal with it yet. I assume direct sound is where I am heading but I'll finish playing with the editor first, then move on to sound. Whilst doing the editor is really boring, it at least isn't brain taxing like the emulation side. Which is easy when you've been doing it for a couple of hours, but that first few hours to get in to the right mindset is agonising lol.

So thats where I am at, now go forth and make suggestions (of a non sexual nature please. I know what you lot are like )

Yes I do. But because I'm really rather chuffed with what I have done, I'm staying tight lipped. I've been very open so far and will continue to do so with updates. But it will ruin the final effect if I do a screenshot. Don't worry the wait will be A) soon over and Worth it (I hope).

Sorry I can stop you there, you aint put in mpu4 yet and looking at other techs you are a fud, I notice your maths are off on the mpu4 Semulation you have coded I asked you for a beta and was c***ed off, remember divisable by 2.

YOU NEED SOUND I cannot tell you how much you comment out code you need sound. the YM series were an EC it aint just sound it had a purpose other than sound.

Folks are here to help but you will only talk to #@#@#@#s fine it will not be finished if thats what you want then so be it.

Sound is going in but the editor is going in first. I'm not saying it won't get done. And I'll certainly be doing that before tech number 2. I'm just saying that other techs can go in before xmas hopefully. Which isn't an unreasonable aim. However sound and The CHR's are definately first on the agenda once Alpha one is released.
