My fruit machine has just suddenly packed in. It's a barcrest and when switched on the machine just says "hey check it out" and nothing loads up. How can I sort this out?
Many thanks for your help.

it can be a number of things. it should say what the error code is on the Alpha display.
make sure also that the reels are spinning freely and no obstruction is caursing the alarm on bootup

no nothing on the display mate. I saw a mechanic in a pub the other day and he said it's normally a coin jammed in the coin mech but there doesn't seem to be a jam.

check that the coins are not jammed in the separator part of the mech

check the MUX board which is either behind the front glass or somewere on the back of the machine its just like a small motherboard with loads of wires comming off itno nothing on the display mate. I saw a mechanic in a pub the other day and he said it's normally a coin jammed in the coin mech but there doesn't seem to be a jam.
make sure all the plugs are on properly for instance if there is no power going to this board the display cant show any messages and it could be trying to tell you the board is either unplugged or fooked lol

thanks for the advice hopefully this works. Could it also be the battery? Apparently you can tell by the sequence of led lights on the mpu5. There's 12 green and 2 red if that means anything?

if it was ram resetting on bootup it should give and error code on the alpha display.

does it do 12 green and the 2 red in a row and then do 12 green and 2 red again.
if so thats an unknown error so your mpu or program could be fecked.

Yeah it does exactly that so it looks like it's the mpu. How easy is it to change an mpu? Is it just a matter of getting a new one or does it need programming?

mpu's are easy to replace and no programming required, however if the proms have ceased then your bigest task would be to finding someone who can blow a copy for you.
