After using it for like 5mins it will start to run slow. Then it will speed up for a few mins but then go slow again.

Either your computer is fecked or...

You have software running in the background which is affecting the speed your processor can run the games. Hold down CTL/ALT/DEL at the same time to see what progs you have running :)

Also, check you have the latest Flash and Shockwave editions. I've had something similar before and it's because they weren't running.

depending on your processor when u run mfme it will get hot and depending on its make and model it will heat up so much it will slow it self down to stop it self burning out which is also why mfme runs slow

Reminds me of when brother in law gave me his pc to look at as it was running slow....
turned it on and waited for bootup to settle down, got fed up after ten min's
waiting and looked at task manager only to find cpu running at 94% and as
for the start menu OMG 104 bloody progs there and HD was only one partiton and 86% fragged!

Ended up FDisking it, split into 4 partitons and gave each of his family their own accounts and gave him tune up utils2008 so he can defrag and clean
up registry with one click lol

Norton and all it's associated 'bloatware' can cause problems. I've never had Norton on this PC but on my old PC, there was a small application associated with Norton that would sit there eating up resources on a grand scale, then easing off, then picking up again. See here:- Norton may slow computers down | Castellini on Computers Radio Show

Do what Gazeyre said. Press these 3 buttons all at the same time 'Ctrl, Alt and Delete' and windows task manager comes up. Click the 'Processes' tab and look in the 'CPU' column. Look for anything that gives high numbers.

One thing to try. May sound a bit odd but works for me, open up Windows Media Player on the desktop, start to play a song and then pause it. Leaving WMP on screen, return to the emulator to see if it's speeded up.
