Thanks Guys,

I agree the screen does look a bit shabby, which is a shame as the rest of the machine looks quite nice now Ive cleaned it up a bit! SO it looks like the padded strip is there to either protect the screen from the cabinet, or hold the touch screen in place.

I guess I have 3 options............

1) Try and completely remove the padded strip and replace with normal neat black tape - however if this is holding the touch screen in place, it could be tricky!

2) Try and trim/remove part of the padded strip, covering the area with normal neat black tape - less likely to affect the position of the screen but would not look quite as neat as choice 1.

3) Do nothing, as it otherwise works ok - although I would not really be happy with this, as it is the sort of thing that would bug me!

If this machine was yours, which of the above would you do (and why!)..........

Thanks again,

Cheers,

Mark

As did you... and it seems to have earnt you that Gold Activity Award! :D

@ Mark;
Be very careful if you decide to trim it, as wires for the touchscreen run under that tape, protected only by a thin plastic cover!

Thanks AAA, I will be careful :)

Right, now my machine looks quite nice and most of the problems have been resolved thanks to the helpful guys on here, however Ive now come across another problem!.........

When I switch the machine on, it loads up ok and goes into demo mode ok. However, sometimes when you insert a coin it plays ok for a few games, the after a while it will accept a coin, but give no plays, then reject all following coins.

Other times, from when it loads up it accepts the first coin (but gives no credits), and rejects all following coins.

The only solution seems to be to switch it off then on again, then when it reloads it might play a few games until this occurs again..........

Apart from checking all connections etc, can anyone point me in the right direction as Its driving me mad!

Many thanks,

Mark

Right, I had a couple of hours spare this afternoon so Ive done a little more investigation........

As before, when machine is switched on, sometimes it accepts coins and plays normally for a while, then accepts a coin awarding no credits, then rejects all coins.

Other times, the problem occurs straight away and the first coin inserted in accepted but no credits awarded, and all following coins rejected.

I have noticed the following.............

When coin is accepted, including when credits are not given, you still get the "beep" that acknowledges a coin has been inserted.

After problem has occured, if you turn refil key, the turn it back machine will accept another coin (again awarding no credits), and the problem returns. Also, the coins accpted do not register as the hopper balance shows the same as before the coin was inserted.

Not sure if this helps, could it be credit board etc? Is there some sort of "master reset" I could do?

Cheers,

Mark

Right, I thought I had made a discovery that when the machine was in credit, it would accept coins, and the problem only occurred when the machine was not in credit - however yesterday the machine accepted a few coins correctly, then accepted one without giving credit, then rejected all others - so it looks like the problem can occur at any time.

As you have probably guessed, I do not know very much about these machines but I would assume that it is not the coin mech that is faulty (as coins are accepted ok until the fault, and the final coin that is accepted (where no credits are registered) still gives the "beep" to acknowledge coin accpeted.

I feel it is more likely a problem with the way credits are registered. Does anyone know if there is a credit board/PCB anywhere on the machine, and what id looks like? I might be barking up the wrong tree, but I thought I would start there if someone can point me in the right direction.

Alternatively, is there anyone in the Midlands (I am in Wolverhampton) who can do these type of repairs?

Thanks again,

Mark

Yep, got to be credit board downwards, nothing wrong with the mech from your description.

Sure if I remember, the credit board is mounted on the left side of the cab just next to the hopper drive board/hopper psu, in the upper section of the bottom part of the the machine, next to the metal cash box.

Hope that makes sense!

Oh no, now machine is not registering credits at all! First coin is accepted, and distorted beep noise is made, no credits are registered and all other coins rejected.

However, the seller is going to get the machine supplierto contact me when he returns from his holiday, so I am hoping to get it sorted then.

If it is a credit board problem, does anyone know if these boards can be repaired or are new boards available? I know that pinball (my other hobby) PCB's can be sent away for repair, is there any similar service for these type of boards? Of course, it might not be a credit board problem but as the coin mech seems to be ok, and the PC seems to be ok, I am guessing that this is where the problem lies!

Cheers,

Mark

Just about anything can be repaired by the right people!

Lots of these machines have been scrapped anyway, so no problems sourcing a spare.

Sounds promising :o)

Out of interest, does anyone have a spare credit board lying around in case I need one? :)

Cheers,

Mark
