I have the Bellfruit "money to burn" machine with a scorpion 4 board.

It appears to be stuck in demonstration mode. I have bought and installed another scorpion 4 board, but with the same result.

Any ideas?

Could be a door switch wired backwards.

Good idea, although if that were the case, would having the door open make it exit demo mode?

I did try, having both the front door & lower door open individually and at the same time to see if it would make a difference, but it remained in demo mode even with the doors open.

It does give me the appropriate menu when the door is open however, so I’m guessing that the switch is not faulty

Hmm. Strangely enough encountered a similar problem with a Scorpion 2 recently.
Never had a chance to get to the bottom of it.

I take it the machine has been like this since you got it, rather than a sudden fault?

To be honest, when I got the machine it had many problems. But these were solved my changing the main board.

This afternoon I tried the old board in the machine just to see if it would still be in demo mode, and it was. So I’m at a loss as to what else it could be.

I am no expert though, so any suggestions are worth a try

So when you open the doors it does reset?

Ok, this morning I thought I would put the new scorpion 4 board back into the machine, so that I could open the various doors and let you know exactly what happened.

However, on powering up the machine, all that happens in the 4 green LED's light up and the red LED blinks, there is also a ticking sound coming from the speakers in time with this blinking.

Is the earth loop connected to the psu?

Probably way off the mark but have you tried clearing the ram?

I unplugged if for a couple of hours and plugged back in. Now it seems to power up fine, very strange. There must be a problem there somewhere but I will come back to that.

I have just disconnected and reconnected all three door switches, and the machine now runs outside of demo mode

However, on powering up, 1 time in 3 in will display the message RAM ERR

The other problem sounds like a dodgy PSU, which is common enough on these...

After some prodding and disconnecting and reconnection of various bits and pieces, the machine seems to be working perfectly :s

Thanks for the tip re the door switches, im sure this is what was causing the problem after all.

However, whilst doing this, I have seen that there are a number of cut wires, maybe 25 or more. Yet the machine works fine, sound is fine, gameplay is fine, it receives / counts the coins ok, and pays out.

Surly these wires should be connected? Is this normal?

They are all colour coded so reconnecting them is not a huge deal, however I am a little cautious to do so when the machine is finally in good working order. Can anyone shed any light on why they might be cut and if it is a good idea to reconnect them. My thinking is obviously to join them back up, but as I said earlier, I’m no expert

Sounds like a new loom has been fitted without removing the old one.....As machine is working i'd leave well alone

As someone else said the ram error is the mobo battery, no real need to replace unless its leaking(if battery is leaking remove asap)

Now that its all working, I'd like to tidy it up a bit. There are several parts that are a bit worn and could do with replacing.

The coin slot surround, button tops, the part that holds in the feature board and if possible some of the decals / artwork. Any idea where I could get some of these bits, there is some stuff on ebay, but id rather use someone recommended.

Also, would it help if I posted some pictures up of the bits in question, as I’m sure my description is not that great?

Here are the bits that would I would like to replace in order to tidy it up a bit:

Button panel (bit scratched / worn etc)
Button tops or entire switch (covers are cracked on some)
Coin slot surround (is cracked at bottom and on side)
The bit that holds the feature board in place (is held with tape at present)
Any artwork / decals that might me available

Hi,

Is it the glass panel with the artwork on it you looking for or the plastic part underneath that holds the bulbs amd changable feature board in place?

Its the plastic back part that holds the bulbs and feature board in position.
