We Have a Large number of members ... who just download all day / night and say nothing in shoutbox or post anything in the forums
I tend to think something dodgy going on ... I maybe wrong
I think there should be a limit on downloads a day ...
Cliff did a great job redoing his site because of the same problem
I wonder what can be done on this site

To be honest it is a common problem with lots of sites... people like to sit in the background and leach, but never contribute themselves.
I am a mod on Goofbay - eBay Tools, eBay Misspellings, eBay Typos, eBay Sniper, eBay Bargains, which provides free Ebay auction tools and even a free sniper system; peoples first posts are all too often a complaint when something has not worked for them!

oops sorry, I sit back and dont say much but i am no leech, i just like to play the odd fruity every now and then.
Great work on here, and usually the forum posts are interesting and revelant, would that be lost if people had to post? i'd hate to have to sift throgh spam to gett the juicy bits.

Every so often I delete members who never contribute. Currently there are 850 members but if I hadn't deleted any at all it would stand at 3235. That's one hell of a lot of leechers!!!
Might be time to do it again

Well it seems I've slipped up somewhere lol You should have been deleted already as I actually did a sweep last month.Whoops, think that might include me actually!

Just so you know there's no favouritism or anything like that, I NEVER look at the username when I'm deleting members - just info on visits & posts.

Anyone who finds their accounts 'gone' can sign up again if they want. I just wish more people would take a more active part, but I suppose that goes for every forum on the internet.

i think that you should have to confirm a download for instance say thanks for the layout then you can download it and stop these fecking ebay discs appearing allsoo layout designers should put copywrite things on the layouts

Downloads are already limited. I'd have to check but I think it's 128Mb per day or something like that. Site supporters can get about 1Gb a day.

It's a tricky dilemma really. You cut the maximum daily download for non supporters and advertise that contributing site supporters get a higher limit, and it can be misinterpreted as a financial tactic. Like 'paying to download more'. so to speak.
To be honest, I think 128mb is a massive amount and I'd have no gripes morally if it was say reduced to say 20mb. That just about gets 4 or 5 games. Of course, the long standing members will probably never even use that only downloading new releases, but maybe a curb on the newcomer in the background who tries to download the whole site in one evening would be a fair thing.
It's a fine line really. Whilst it's good to gain new members, and give them a nice incentive to join up with a nice download limit, sometimes, it can be abused and the wrong sort of people are putting a financial burden on the site by grabbing all they can.

Why not just sell them for vivisection and just for a quick fix sever the ligaments at the back of the knee for a start?
I really do not know what is up with you Liverpool I really don't every so often you feel the need to stir up shite over bugger all (anyone remember his paraniod crusade against swearing?).
What are non posters personally doing to harm or damage you?
Who are you to raise this point anyway you are not a mod or admin you are just a user?

Im sure it's the same however long you have been hear danny. I been hear 3 years 4 days 7 hours and 27 minutes and I can still only download the max of 128mb which is more than enough as I have most machines allready. I only need dl the new releases.
