Hi all, this may be a very stupid question indeed but it is kind of bugging me a bit. Last time I went to my local arcade they had 9 less fruit machines than they had the last time I went there! I was just wondering if they will possibly get any replacement machines back as it seems really odd to ditch 9 machines, surely they will be losing far too much? They were Jackpot Gems, Top Giza, Bling Bling, Kings Ransom, X-Rated, Legal Tender, Top Gear, Mega Streak and Pink Panther Strikes Again. This question is obviously aimed at people on here who own arcades etc or have knowledge about why an arcade would possibly get rid of a lot of big money taking machines. Could it be that the arcade was renting them from a company and they are awaiting new ones in replace of them?
Cheers all:)

In our arcade, we were going to ditch the 4 lowest taking AWPs since the start of the season... and all 4 were Red Gaming (2x Top Giza, 1x Crazy Cobra and 1x Jackpot Genie).
I notice that several of the machines you mention (well, let's be honest, 6 out of 8 of them!) are also Red Gaming, the others being a Barcrest and I believe an MDM (but could be Mazooma / QPS).
Either way, I think punters are now realising just how bad recent Red machines have been. I still have the odd play of a £5 Red X across the road in a pub (always pays for my beer!) but I can see why people don't play recent ones. Faster spins, less frequent wins, atrociously predictable Hi-Lo gambling and I've yet to witness a JP on several of them.
If we are talking about £25/£35 on those Reds, then I imagine they were barely covering their expenditure (AMLD + any extras) for the year - it is even possible they were making a loss!
I wouldn't be at all surprised if the machines were not replaced with other hi-tech AWPs.

Cheers mate, they were all £5 Jackpots and were played quite often when I had been there before, the Pink Panther Strikes again was QPS:)

All the ones we were due to get rid of were £5 as well. I just don't think your average 'casual' player bothers with them any more, although I used to as I'd had some good little streaks, from features a lot of people wouldn't take.
Green Hi-Lo cash for example, seen that go for £14+ on many an occasion.

Hi
The other reason that thay have gone is it could be the normal end of season clear out for manny years most of the arcades in Redcar used to in the winter partion off part of the Arcade so it was much smaller with much less machines and then the parttions came down at easter again, all the new kit was there for the new season, thay dont do it now though.
So as its now the end of the season and if thay were not taking much it would make sense for them to remove them now but thay may choose not to replace them until near the start of the new season, as the number of punters will be lower in the winter than in the summer would make sence for the opereator to hold the purchace of any replecement kit till then i am sure that he will have enough games to keep his winter punters happy.

I know this is slightly different and a tiny bit of topic but one my my local arcades has three over 18 sections in one arcade. One has Party Games 4pl £25, Elvis 4pl £35, Red Hot X £35, Red Hot Monopoly £35, Casino DOND £35, Mega Jackpots £35, Max a Million £25, Clockwork Orange £35, Triple 7 500 and Free Play 500.
The other one has Double Decker £35, OXO Supa reels £25, Party Time arena £25, Top Slot £25, Bullion Bars Deluxe £25, Double Action slotto 500 and Cash Ahoy 500.
The Third has Casino DOND £35, Megaslot 2pl £500, Power Games £500, Monty Python £500, Party Time £15, Find the Lady £35 and a couple of Electrocoin £25ers.
My point is the 1st section has its party games and elvis in £5.
The 2nd section has all its machines in £5 except double decker and obviously the 500s.
The 3rd over 18 section is No more and blocked off and all machines switched off.
It has come as a bit of a shock (well not really considering todays cash climate, but these arcades are cash rich) that they are changing their £25 jackpots into £5 and only having two B3s in each section instead of 4.
Their other arcade is similar, blocking one section off and converting their £25 Party Games into £5.
They are getting rid of machines and could potentially close if business does not pick up.

One of the biggest arcades in Glasgow has got rid of at least 30 £25'ers since the last time i visited. They used to be machines on two floors, now its just one and even so they have "converted" an area that covered 20 or so machines into a seated area with tables ect ??!!
Sign of the times.Any Glasgow punters might know the arcade, its Booths Enterprise on Renfield St.

TBH I feel it's a combination of arcade owners greed and goverment red tape costs/restrictions thats killing arcades.
There's no enjoyment for me in arcades now, I stopped going in years ago.
£5 JP is too low for working folk but the £35's are just not enjoyable and suck £10+ just to get a board.
If they could up AWP's to say £10/£15 JP 10p/20p play I think the enjoyment factor could return.
£5 JP's are pretty pointless, far too many that I've played cost £5 upwards just to get a board then usually do the JP.
in the 5 arcades my way the most in any 1 for hi-tech £35's is about 5. the majority only have a couple left just loads of multiplayers and bar x's.
The greed from arcade owners is in the %'s I do pretty well off Red gaming £35's but every unit I've seen in an arcade is on the lowest possible % 70% so I haven't touched a single 1 in an arcade.

You seem to know a lot about your arcades to say you dont go in lol
Anyway our arcades are suffering big time and the b3s are the only thing keeping them open. Time to go back to a time where a jackpot is nt impossible to win. Liked the 20p/£10 era best (apart from the token era ). Wish something like that would come back with a bit more fun in the game. ;-)
