Both should be fairly reliable - MPU5 in particular is bulletproof.

Both are emulated. Why not download them and see which one you like the best? :)

Well in my view then, having played both, I'd definitely plump for "Two Towers". Top Dog is one of the newer crappy Barcrest machines that struggles to pay out more than £2 on most boards if it's sucking. Which is 90% of the time :)

Different Emulators run different Technologies. A comparison for that is like trying to play a nintendo game on a playstation...it won't work, so you need to download the correct emulator to run the machine.

For your Lord of the Rings Two Towers.....It runs on MFME v 9.4

Download the layout and ROM and extract them into the SAME folder using Winzip.

Once you have done that, run v9.4 and load game. Search out the folder where you saved the file and run the .gam file. Easy peasy. :)

Most layouts on this site include the ROMS Jimbob.

Go to downloads and click on the search function. Type in the name of the game and download the one you want. You do need to be a bit familiar with the technologies as such but most downloads will tell you which version of MFME it runs on.

If you have MFME v9.4 already installed here's a link to the Two Towers.

Fruit-Emu (Fruit Machine Emulation) - Download: - Lord Of The Rings (The Two Towers) 1280 wdx

What to do is set up a folder on your desktop (or wherever you like) called Lord of the Rings, for example.

Download this machine into the folder and then unzip the machine into the SAME folder. Run 9.4 and then load game. Look in your folder and then run .gam file.

Remember to set your screen res to 1280 by 1024 or you won't see the full machine.

Around the Town came out a bit after the original BFM emulator came out...and doesn't work in it....Try running it in MFMEv2...it works fine there.

You are trying to run a lot of the games in the original emulators by the sound of it. Remember that a lot of the JPM, BFM games weren't released until v2 came out (MFME contains lots of technologies, not just one).

That's the ORIGINAL emulator pack you have downloaded....it includes MFMEv1, BFM and JPemu.....You need to be downloading the later MFME emulators available in the download section.

Unfortunately, MFMEv9.4 upwards can only be downloaded from Cliff's Repro. The link is on the left hand side of the homepage. Log in as a guest.
