Be cheeky too much and you'll be BANNED.

Oh yeah Vamp you are lucky, the insurance is too high really for me to learn next month haha, so you can survive without me on the roads...And as for the crash you saw, Sorry, not my fault, he should have reversed in quicker before he saw me coming

GC tell your dad/uncle/boyfriend congrats on his pass in 2001, not sure you should be putting his stuff on the net though.
As it is I'm not too fussed, just would of been nice to pass first time.
Oh yeah and cheers for the kind words/support guys. :)

It's a shame the instructor saw fit to fail you. At the end of the day, driving is one thing, but if you are a witness to an accident, he should have observed your reactions. Sure, he would have noticed the nerves playing their part, even more so after witnessing the crash, but he should have taken this into account. After all, accidents are a simple part of the driving experience. Something that cannot be done in a test, but one thing that does indeed test your mettle and would be a good guage of ones road worthyness.

My driving test, over 20 years ago and before the written one was about, I left the test centre, and was caught up for over 30 minutes in stationary traffic at peak time. So no time to do most of the stuff. I got a pass and thought I'd sort of cheated my way to success until he told me about a situation that I had overcome, quite instinctively, that pretty much secured my pass. I had simply anticipated that a school kid riding his bike on the footpath a little front of me to the left was gonna run into the road at the zebra, and all I did was kept back and gave him the room that he needed IF he was to ride into the road.

Sally on the otherhand, failed whilst approaching a roundabout. But just before the roundabout, there was a right turn just a few yards before it. Sal approached the roundabout, indicated, and the instructor failed her simply saying that she indicated too early and others would have thought she was gonna turn right down this turning and not using the roundabout. The junction and roundabout, if you play it as the instructor suggests, you have to get to the roundabout and then indicate. But no doubt he'd have failed her for doing it too late in this instance.

Instructors are funny buggers. Some can have a perfect drive and fail on a slight minor descrepency. Whilst others will pass after committing a handful of minor descrepancies. Passing your test isn't entirely down to driving skills. Sometimes, it depends on which instructor you get. How many he has already failed, and even the time of the day.

Whilst it may feel good to pass first time, often it's down to luck and in no way should it make you become dejected if you do fail and have to go through it once again.

I do hope you crack it next time. As it's one hell of a great feeling when you do get that pass. :)

Ironically, one of the biggest offenders that adhere to your sentiment above are drivers from the USA who use their mobiles whilst driving around the UK. And I'm sure because the police don't issue spot fines for this crime, they will simply get a warning, followed by, 'welcome to England. Enjoy your stay.'
