Guy's..a real senario..
Thanks to DAD and Stanmarsh I have my 2nd PC up and running...all above board.....but MS are being difficult.
Basically 1 OEM disc but 2 proper keys (2 PC's of course).
Initially I was told I have to buy a new disc in order to activate...really!
Bless them ... after taking FIFTEEN MINUTES explaining to Microsoft that I didn't wan't to activate MY set-up but a second install with a different key I was finally passed onto their 'help centre'.
Nice you may say but a charge is payable for assistance.....why?...I already have a legit key!
I have read their KB where you alter the registry, but that appears to only work for Pro etc...not Home....and its all above board as its in MS's KB itself.
----------------
Has anyone got any info on what to do (legally of course) as MS has been paid for the Key already so I don't see any reason to go 'behind the scene' to get it running proper.....eg alter the instalation ID so I can type the original key that came with the 2nd PC.
Thanks in advance
Ady
----------------
Footnote....Why is it when you are and try remaining Legal MS make it 100 times harder than if I had a 'bad' install?.....weird!

First post i know but this may help you.
So you have the oem vd/dvd already which is part of your other system?
If so open the disk and look for the folder $OEM$
If its there then what you need to do is make a new disk without the oem part of it and boot from that, then it should work for you and you will put your own cd key into it.
Im pretty sure that will work as i had to do it for vista as my laptop hdd died and didnt have a backup dvd so used a friends vista. Put my own key in and all worked fine.
Btw... Just had a look on a dell xp cd i have and it has the oem folder so it should work.
If it dont help let me know and i will find another way.
Hope this helps
