I have a problem, my fruit machine JPM Monopoly 60th Aniversary edition, was working fine. all of a suddern showed an error, not sure what, and then when plugged in the only thing that happens:
The power pack fuse lights are on
the red lights at the back of each of the reels are lit
the coin slot lights are lit
if you put money in the coin goes through the coin mech into the correct slot. but no credit is registered
Nothing else happens.
No lights or sound
Could this be a broken program board and if so where can i get one from.

Thanks for any help anyone can give

Malcolm

Does sound like mpu problem.

Is there any sign that the battery has leaked?

The battery did show signs of leakage therefore I bought a new one, exactly the same voltage etc, even the same make. took the old one off and fitted the new one. The latest is that I have kept it switched on over the last couple of days with only the coin slots lit, but this morning when i switched it on (obviously I dont leave it on over night), two bulbs came on over the bottom reels and when i switched it off again about one minute later the sound made a whiring sound as it powered off. I then switched on again and one of the property lights came on and then faded and went off.
Not sure if this is progress :bigeyes16:

Did you clean any leakage off the board before you fitted the new one?

Any chance of uploading about 5 - 10 pictures of the machine with the lights off. I love to do an update on this one. Would be most appreciated.

There was no leakage onto the board only around the battery and where the connectors were soldered to the board, the board is clean.
I will try to upload some pics today (or tonight) and will include the board.

Thanks guys for the help, I bought this some time ago and loved using it in my house, it was a real money box putting spare bits of change in and then cashing up every few months. I was sad when the thing stopped working.

I spy green legs on the IC next to the battery.

Was the old battery blue? If so it will have leaked a corrosive gas that will have damaged parts of the board without any signs of liquid leakage.

First thing you need to do is give the board a good scrub with vinegar, then rinse it in clean water, and leave it to dry on a warm radiator or similar for several hours.

Thanks mate, helping out the scene by doing this. Take a few of the top half, a few of the bottom half and a few of the buttons with machine off. Appreciated

You are not wrong, that is indeed the gas damage from an old blue Nicad battery. :(

I will do the photo's as soon as I can (what I really mean is when my brov brings his camara as I was trying to do it with my phone cam but the shots are really poor.
I will try the vinegar and let you know how I get on.

The vinegar neutralises the alkali from the battery and stops any further damage taking place, but there may still be damage already done that will need repairing.

If damage has been done and the board is ruined, is there somewhere I can purchase a new board, anyone know?

Don't think I have much in the way of JPM at the mo - mind you I never know what is lurking at the back of the drawer or cupboard half the time!

Some one on the Mecca will be able to fix that board anyway, doubt it is bad enough to need replacing.

thanks guys, I appreciate all the help.

I will try the vinegar trick and then see how it goes, i will report back after the weekend when the board has had time to dry and I can put it back in the machine.
One question though, Is it a particular board for Monopoly 60th Edition or are all these boards the same for JPM's and the monopoly program is elsewhere in the machine

Boards are the same, the program is contained in EPROM chips on the board.
