Hi there just joined and thought i'd say hello.
I've recently bought a Maygay Great Escape Fruit machine (hence my post name) the date in the cabinet says last checked in 1997. I just wanted to know what the likely probs that can arise with this machine and where a good place to get parts from is and how easy is it to upgrade decals if there are any above £5 jackpot.

Having owned an Maygay M1A tech (or M1B) machine myself a few years back, maybe I could give a little assistance. M1A's and M1B's were terrible with their power supply if you had wrong wattage lamps installed as I recall, so if you spy one for sale on Ebay I'd buy one if you plan to keep the machine a while; same goes with the decals if you spot any, because IGT (who now own the Maygay brand) no longer support the technology so if anything goes wrong you could be waiting a while. The reel stepper motors can also get a bit twitchy with age as I remember but generally that does'nt generally stop the machine functioning, just means it could get less and less playable. People on this forum though could help with parts if you get stuck.
The last checked date is the last time it was electrically tested for safety (has to be completed once a year if in public service) so either the operator who owned the machine was a little remiss with this, or it has been in private ownership ten years.
Good machine to buy though! And welcome to Fruit Emu!

Check the battery for leakage.

Yeah i've heard about leaking batteries ruining the boards. the battery looks fine but seeing as no checks have been noted down for ten years would it be beneficial to just change the battery and if so how easy is this it looks like a case of simple soldering.

If it was me it would be the first thing I would do even if its just the safe side.

The machine has already shown a bug. When turning it on nothing happened i looked in the back and the board lights were. whilst checking fuses it sprung to life and played as normal. It also has had a prob with recognising coins and you have to turn it off and on again to reset this. If anyone knows the errors it shows at least one in the 0-4 sections
Can anyone shed any light on these
