I'm pleased to say that the 1024 version is now finished, and has been uploaded to the Fruitemu server, hope those with smaller monitors enjoy the release!

Glad you like it Ziggy, as far as the artwork goes, it's not a flyer DX, though a flyer was used for reference, this was drawn from the ground up, starting from a blank canvas.
It's a BWB machine, and has been around for quite a while now in both classic and a Harvey DX, as far as I know, this is one of those rare modern BWB's that didn't have encrypted roms, Ooh aah Dracula's another one.

How long did it take mjj? I'm thinking of doing something like this with Grandstand Club, unless I can find any artwork.

Good question Schmooster, I can only give a rough answer, but here goes, the wip was announced on 30th December, along with a screengrab, to get to that stage I'd probably spent two or three hours on it.
The artwork was finished on 19th January, so that's three weeks, though I only manage to get a couple of hours spare each day, and then not every day, so, you could roughly say around forty hours, that included completely redrawing the reels as well, but not the lighting, cutting and DX'ing.
A simple redraw, Spoof for example (look out for the 1024 release today!) takes roughly a week, start to finish, that's because there's no need to actually draw anything freehand, Photoshop has a wealth of tools that take the hard work out of designing. Another, Alphabet, that took roughly a fortnight, but I was working from a very small image, so had to interpret quite a bit.
It's like anything else, the more you do, the quicker you get, I remember the first one took well over a month, that was Hi Jinx, way back in 2001, and it looks pretty shoddy now compared to today's standards. Hope that helps!

It does mate, thank you. I'm using Photoshop CS and Paint Shop Pro which are great for reworking things and lamping etc, but not so good for starting from scratch (least not for me) What other tools (if any) do you use or recommend, like for the text for example which are fonts I've seen before but have no idea how or where to find. The time scale seems about right, I've been reworking Club x because the glass and prize amounts are very grainy, so I've painted new glass in and redone the reels but sadly it just makes the rest of it (decals etc) look worse so it'll all needs redoing. As it's my first attempt I've probably put 25-30 hours in and I've learned a lot from this, but I'd really like to concentrate on a really good Club Grandstand release because Club x is fine as it is really, I just need some guidance on the fonting side of things.

Fonts are always a bit of a problem, sometimes you can find an exact match, sometimes you can't, I use the Bezier tool when this is the case, it's the one that looks like a pen nib, tricky to get the hang of, but once you've mastered it you can recreate fonts very quickly, and at any size (it stores them as vectors).
I'll pass on one tip, if you are using a font and it doesn't quite fit (size, shape etc...) try going to layers/type, and convert it to a shape instead, you'll then be able to stretch, squeeze, distort to your hearts content, you can even use the bezier tool on the shape to add extra curves or simply modify them, when happy you just finish off by rasterizing the shape.
If you look at the one to six nudges on Rocky Horror, these were created using the Bezier tool, there's no way you'd find an exact match, total time to recreate, about half an hour.

Mate, that is probably the single most useful tip to date, I would never have stumbled across that! Excellent! Thanks Bud!
