Looks like display settings.

On XP you would right click the desktop > Properties and get into the settings that way, but on Vista I can not remember how this is done, but probs can access the settings from whithin Control Pannel.

Up colour quality to as high as it will go (32 bit), and screen res to 1024 * 768, then try a few sites again.

If this does not work, then nip to nVidia's site (Assuming you have their GFX fitted), and download the Vista GFX driver direct from there, NOT FROM ACER, install and reboot if asked, then try the previous settings again.

If you have the model number for this Acer lappy, we can ID what driver you need.

You may also find that (we get this on some laptop monitors) the display degrades when not running at the maximum resolution so try upping that as well...

Yeah..the screen res might be too low on it and also the refresh rate..its the same on mine any other setting than 1400x1050 makes the text and pictures appear blurry.

Could try updating your GFX drivers as well..although be careful cos if its an ATI-Readon card thats in it..Vista is very funny with certain drivers..ye might kill it again.
Mmmmmm...Sandy ive 'ad her ye know. :)

Its a Aspire 5920G, did try the settings from / but still didnt work. This is the info on the gfx card. Didnt download the drivers as that was what caused the last laptop to crash the display drivers.

Acer Europe - Service & Support, Drivers & Utilities, Downloads, Notebook, Aspire 5920

Ok, it's an ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3470 we are dealing with here.

Try the following and see if this helps, making sure you fully read the instructions: » ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3470 for Vista

*** WARNING *** as AMD / ATI do not offer a download, these are gamer modified drivers that should helpfully cure the issues you have. Please note these drivers are NOT supported by ATI / AMD.

It dont matter what monitor its on or any res its still the same toddy. It was fine when i got the laptop but after I was online for a while it seemed to start with opera first then about 40 minuets later it was IE. Why is the front page on FE all out of shape too. the shout box is massive and its not meant to be like that is it?

Ok this is weird, I just installed firefox and uninstalled oprea and it now seems to all look ok. I think (but not sure) it might of been the updated opera as it was when I installed their update this happened. But cant understand why it would effect IE. But will see how firefox goes. Thanks for all your help tho guys.

There is a util on the lappy from ACER that will let you write the system restore files onto a DVD or 2 I know this as i have done it on the wifes acer as we had to do a resore due to some virus activity

Yes there is, through one of Acer's e-management progs.

Best get this done ASAP before the thing goes totaly south, as it did on me mates Packard Bell, thus resulting me having to use a generic oem version of vista.

Just to let u know that the new laptop did as the other two did, display drivers failed and caused it to crash to a blue screen. So decided to call acer themselves and find out what the problem is. The bastards would not talk to me at all and said he would have to kindly hang up as I bought the laptop from currys. So phoned up currys and they said oh hi MR ...... so you still having the same problem. So the guy said I can have it sent of to try and get it fixed or I could take it back to the shop and ask for a diff model. I think I might take it back and get a diff model as its starting to piss me off. So anyone know what would be a good choice. I have £600 to spend on the laptop from currys.

Ok went into currys today as my new laptop is crashing every hour now. I said to them that I want to change the model and the manager was like no chance m8. So I said to him to plug another monitor into the acer 5920G that was on display and watch. So he agreed and within 3 minuets the laptop had crashed and the display was all messing up. So he went online on there system and looked at other stores feedback on that laptop. He saw that most the other stores had the same problem. So he is going to talk to the manager and see if they need to do a full product recall. So now he said I can change the model.

We now tho have another problem. The laptop I got was on contract with three mobile broadband. The price of the laptop was £599.99. I paid £150 for the laptop as three knocked off £450 which is the £599.99 I also had to pay a returnable deposit of £150 which I get back on month 24. The problem being that the new laptop is the same price as the 5920G was 2 months ago and the 5920G is now £529.99 He has said that I may have to pay another £100 towards this new laptop as three may not give me the full £450 off. So it looks like i will have to pay the extra £100 to get a laptop that is a litle bit under spec than the one I have now. This is the new one Acer Aspire 6930G Laptop LX.AUU0X.214 - Acer Products | Acer Direct.co.uk

The only diff is this has an Nvidia gfx card and 3 gig ram and my 5920g has ATI gfx card and 4gig of ram, the new one has a fingerprint reader too which I think is a bonus. So I'm just wanting to know is there anyway I can get round not having to pay this extra £100. the offer at the time was to get £450 of any laptop instore. But now the guy is saying that it is now £350.

Any ideas peeps?

They said I CAN have it replaced which will be the fourth laptop in 8 weeks. Just this other issue with having to pay the extra £100 which I'm not happy with.
