As I had an hour or so to kill last night, I popped into the local pub/arcade (5 machines) for a quick £20. I decided to try out a Gems related machine by Eurocoin which seemed similar to Money Mad Martians etc.
It was playing well enough, and I collected a quick 6.70, which it paid into the bank. But then it didn't do the expected "Bonus 30p" to make it up to £7. Instead it just left £6.70 in the bank, and on hitting collect paid the £6 and left the 70p. As far as I could tell there was no way of getting the 70p back out without winning £x.30 or something to round it up. In the end, I managed to get to a round £20 and left it but it leaves me with the questions:
1) Was this machine just broken
2) If not, this is a really irritating departure from what as been the norm since the days on the £4.80 machines
3) Is it even legal to prevent the player from collecting winnings??
Can anyone shed some light on this?
Cheers,
Magz :-D

Sounds like Gold streak by electrocoin

It's a clone of Road to riches
And no it's not broken. This is a new thing by electrocoin. A right rip off.

Yeah, that's the machine (cheers!).
Is it just me, or are manufacturers simply trying to get rid of players?
What on earth use is a £6.70 win on a 50p per play machine??
Is this even legal?

They've been doing this for ages on the Itbox. Wins that don't round up so you have to play more to achieve another win to get to 50p so you can get another game.

I must admit I hardly play other peoples machines, but if I won an ammount that the machine was not able to pay I would not be impressed. To be honest, unless it says clearly that wins under £1 cannot be paid, I would ask at the bar and state that the machine must be faulty - this is the type of feedback that suppliers (and therefore manufacturers) are more likely to listen to.
I guess you cannot insist that machines "round up" to the next pound, but I would at least want the money I won - they should maybe fit a 10p hopper like the S13/B3's.
I know it has been said hundres of times before but I used to enjoy playing machines when £10 would at least last a few minutes - not like now.
Cheers,
Mark

did you try holding the start button down as a few machines that dont round up to the nearest £ put the odd amount of pence into the credits when you do this

I can't say I tried that. Thanks for the tip, I'll give it a go if I happen across a machine that does this in future...
